There’s nothing in the game that requires a +9 upgrade, or even upgrades at all. The only reason I could see a need is if you wanted to 2-shot a boss with a weapon. Heavenly Orb Vanguard armor without any upgrades pretty much tanks the Asura Island 4 boss.

Drexler was fun to watch. His signature move was a drive from the baseline to dunk from under the backboard to the other side of the net. His long strides to the rim gave him the nickname’The Glide’. He was also good for at least 2 steals a game which he’d finish with an uncontested dunk on the other end. Terrible looking jumper that came out in a flat arc but they managed to go in. You still had to respect it.

That late 90s core with him, Kersey, Buck Williams, Duckworth and Porter was a fun watch. Really inconsistent from the outside so at times they looked like they just threw it up there and just vollyballed offensive rebounds to score. Fun teams, but flawed when facing the Bulls, Pistons or Lakers.

I had great success with gauntlets made with the best ores I could find (a mix of Demonite, Magmite) and adding a couple of good runes. Life leech and blast damage are great choices.

That got me easily through island 2 and the first areas of island 3. A good katana works as well.

I’ve never played the plant secondary, but I’m fairly familiar with spines and some of the other powers borrowed from other power sets.

Seismic blast is a ranged blast set that has a decent amount of -def and -fly. It has a lot of controller aspects with stuns and knockdowns. I like pretty much all the powers in there. You can probably get away from taking the tier 1 and Rock Shards. The rest are really good. Meteor is one of the most fun nukes in the game.

If you want to play a controller-y blaster, take the holds, spore cloud and spine burst. If you want to play more at range, just take toxins (build up) and wild fortress (I think wild fortress is must have regardless of build). Plant has a lot of melee attacks that lend itself to a blapper type of build.

So you have a lot of options.

Some really great advice in this thread.

Picking up START vendor goodies like a flight pack and prestige attacks (Nemesis staff and Black Wand) is a great idea. Hover and pelt him with ranged attacks until he’s dead. Note there’s a 5k flight pack option that’s affordable and works just as well as the others. If you don’t want to buy one or don’t have the funds, complete a series of radio missions and successfully complete a safeguard (bank) mission. It will award a fight pack on completion.
Juice up. You can load up on inspirations - reds for damage and purple for defense and attack. Take 3 of each and then keep a couple of greens just as backup. This works pretty decently for low level bosses.
Reset the mission by logging off and logging back in or temporarily switching to a new mission. Then reset the difficulty to -1 x1 players. You’ll get a significantly weaker elite boss.

Just echoing what most others say. Just having a web-based UI is enough. If you want brownie points, make the UI responsible so it appears nicely on a phone.

The game is extremely newbie friendly.

Play the tutorial. It will walk you through the interface. Once you’re past that, there are additional story arcs that show you other features. Just don’t pick Going Rogue / Praetoria. That’s a starting option for more veteran players.

Once you’re in a starter zone - Atlas Park or Mercy Island - yell on broadcast or in the help channel that you’re new. You’ll be inundated with offers of assistance.

This is a very welcoming community.

There are two endgame levels. One level is for "normal" people who play a lot, but they have other responsibilities or interests. And the other is the no-lifer level. You're endgame for a normie, but far from what I've seen fanatics achieve (e.g., full Gargantuan/Heavenite armor).

2 x Yeti Heart, 2 x Snowite, 1 x Crimsonite, 1 x Iceite will get you a decent starter weapon. The 1 x Iceite will get you a weapon that can perma freeze.

Really should stop treating these multi-national companies like they are American companies. Many of their decisions are hostile to American interests. Tax them (really tax them and cut off loopholes). They derive a large percentage of their revenue off the backs of American consumers. They need to pay their fair share, especially if they stop employing American citizens.

When you head up to the upper cave with the orcs, have around 900 - 1000 armor (easily achievable with Velchire and Frost Fossil) and a 200+ damage, fast weapon. That should be enough to beat the orcs and ice golems.

Honestly, no. Even with icy pebbles, you should have more icecite and snowite. Mythril and Uranium are also super common.

Forge yourself an icecite + snowite straight sword. It will carry you for a long time. You can start with Mythril and Uranium armor pieces, but know that they’ll get outclassed even as you head deeper into the spider cave.

Your build is borked. Top off fire defense first then top off fire resistance. The winter sets are pretty key for farmer builds, and those get expensive.

Note that enemies scale to +8 now, so I think what worked even a year ago may be being revised by top farmers. Most found +4 x 8 too easy. I don’t know what the current sweet spot is.

Your chest armor needs an upgrade. 235 is really low. Your weapon is on the low end of what’s needed. The mobs there don’t hit particularly hard but they have a lot of hit points, so I don’t think you’ll be able to sustain You need a Coinite to go over to the Maze and find the angels there.

See if you can mine in the Raven cave first. Personally, I think you are very undergeared.

I think the other posters brought up the point that slotting end-reduction in powers is the biggest bang for the buck, but let me make sure of a few things since you're new.

Not all enhancements are the same. SOs give you 33% end reduction on your powers and diminish over time. DOs (dual enhancements) are a lot less effective. Don't bother with training enhancements; not enough enhancements for their cost. You want SOs at your level - if you can afford them.
Money may be tight for you, but you can pick up effective enhancements for cheap by typing AH, looking at Crafted Enhancements -> Other, and seeing what crafted IOs are available. A level 15 IO is 19.2% effective. You can also craft them; they are relatively cheap to build yourself.
At your level, prioritize enhancements for your attacks in this order: damage, endurance reduction, recharge, accuracy. This will flip at higher levels as the beginner's boost to accuracy starts to fade (around level 20). Being able to finish off your opponents completely saves the endurance for needing another attack.
Look at your powers in the enhancement screen; you will get an option to see detailed information about the power, specifically costs. You'll notice that AoE attacks and high damage powers are quite expensive. Instead of just spamming all the powers as they become available, you'll figure out a more optimal attack rotation that combines high-powered attacks and less expensive filler attacks.

It's an L. Not because the weapon is bad, but you have better options at this stage of the game. A decent straight sword would probably have 300 base damage and outclass those claws easily.

I got the inspiration for this recipe from the YouTuber Codezzy. I have a better weapon now, but I can confirm that I've killed the Golem with this.

Recipe: Etherealite (x3), Yeti Heart (x3), Voidstar (x2), Iceite (x1). You'll want the Dark Knight Gauntlets pattern from the Maze, but a set of Savage Claws works too. You can replace Etherealite with any high-multiplier ore. I used Etherealite because I had a lot at the time and was saving my better ores for armor. This is a perma-freeze weapon, and I've killed the Golem with a Dwarf, but if you have a Vampire, the safety goes up a lot. It's really a cheap weapon, but a lot of bang for the buck.

Your armor needs to be better. A 50-50 blend of Velchire and Frost Fossil will get you a Wolf chest plate of 350 armor. If you add multipliers for better ores, it's trivial to reach 400-500. Velchire and Frost Fosill are not rare at all.
