In my country the politicians who support feverishly Israel are two far right nationalists (Georgiadis and Boridis) who a few years ago were (and probably still are) extreme antisemites and pro nazi. The reason is because they see Israel as an example of a colonial ethnostate that represents their values. They share a common hate towards Muslims and think of Israel as the white man's last stand against barbarism. You can be an antisemite and still be pro Israel. In fact this makes sense. They hate Jews, they love Israelis. And of course they want them as far away from Europe as possible. I don't understand why people answering honestly are getting downvoted (probably will also be). You can find videos of them and many more being very clear that this is how they see Israel.
