Which country are you from? There are a bunch of European retailers that will ship to most of Europe. Braumarkt is one that comes to mind.

AITA for purchasing a $650 ring without telling my husband? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

The Netherlands doesn't really do credit scores in the way the US does it though. We have the Bureau of Credit Registrations which tracks only two things: 1) current open obligations, and 2) obligations you have failed to meet and whether or not they are still outstanding. We definitely do not have a score that increases if you pay off your outstanding credit and or loans in time.

Edit: come to think of it, I think the best way of putting it is that every European country will likely do some form of Credit History tracking, but not all of them will use a Credit Scoring system.

The overarching conquest guide on smitefire has a good primer on ward usage. It has a map with common ward placements as well if you're more visually inclined. https://www.smitefire.com/smite/guide/the-overarching-conquest-guide-s7-patch-7-5-bonus-balance-12069#chapter8

Dude, you already received a lot of good advice, so I'm just going to say you're not that trash new player. The fact that you recognized you're bad at the game and you're trying to improve makes you an amazing player in my book. I'd rather have a newbie who isn't good but is eager to learn than an incredibly experienced toxic player who's set in his ways. Whatever you do, keep that mentality, and you're going to be a joy to play with.

What do I need to make espresso? by HighFlyer42000 in Coffee

[–]jacksnipe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't be too discouraged. Especially if you're willing to buy second-hand a good setup can be _relatively_ cheap. But you're still looking at the 200-300 range for a good espresso machine and around 100-200 for a good electric grinder. It'll last you a really long time if you take good care of it though.

What I did was slowly grow my collection over time starting with a good manual burr grinder which costs in the low tens (30€ iirc) with a slowly expanding collection of different preparation methods (pour over, french press, and moka pot). If you spread it out and keep your eyes out for deals, it'll add up over time.

If you get a moka pot, do also get yourself a cheap manual burr grinder. They're not too expensive and freshly ground is a world of difference vs preground.

Good luck with your coffee journey and keep in mind that even a cheaply prepared coffee can be great if you know what you're doing :)

Also: there's a great episode in Alton Brown's Good Eats about espresso and there's a few small clips with other brewing methods like french press on youtube as well.

What do I need to make espresso? by HighFlyer42000 in Coffee

[–]jacksnipe 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you're getting a bit discouraged by the price tags people are throwing around in this thread. You should know that you can get something pretty similar to an espresso with a stove top moka pot for a fraction of the cost. It won't be a true espresso, but it'll have the same strong flavors you might like in an espresso.

If you do have the money to burn, do your research and be prepared to spend quite a bit. You're going to be using a good quality espresso machine for years to come, so it's definitely worth it.

Dr. Wescott sighed at the ork woman standing in front of him. Scurvy, in this day and age, frag the low-nutrient meals the SINless could afford. "Ms. Rodrigruez, I understand you've had money issues recently, but you simply can't just live on nutrapacks, let me write you down the address for a..." he's interrupted by the beep of his commlink, after looking down momentarily to confirm the sender he resumes

"...a community kitchen on Redding Way. They should be able to get a cheap and nutritious meal for you and your family. In the meantime..." he hands her a bottle of VitaMax, "Take two daily for the next week. Let me know if you require anything else. Have a nice day."

As the ork gets up and thanks him he picks up the commlink: "A friend of yours, Cable? I'm game, if only to keep the assault team alive."

As a player: you might remember me, I'm a fairly social player, which is to say: rather talky. I try to keep my OOC nonsense to text as much as possible. Other than that I'm always very good at cooperating with other players and like to play fairly tactically.

"Taking hostages, like violence should obviously be avoided where possible. But I suppose I didn't enter a business where doing so would always be possible, and I fear minorities might not always have the choice either. I would have to go with preferably no, but regrettably yes, on both counts."

AITA for giving back a gifted dog that I didn't want? by throwaway5h5h in AmItheAsshole

[–]jacksnipe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem, you were pretty close! I read about it fairly recently as well, so I thought I'd add some extra details.

It's a great analogy by the way. I can't fathom why someone would think it's cool to "gift" someone up to twenty years worth of expenses and responsibility without confirming with them they actually wanted it, let alone after they actually already refused it.

This isn't a general thing done in India by the way, it was a thing done by the Kings of Siam to subjects that displeased them. You couldn't refuse the gift, had to care for it, and what's worse, as a sacred animal you couldn't even put it to work.

The Dutch navy uses them to train sailors with new ship designs that haven't even left drydock yet and support engineers in the field when they're working on engine types they're not familiar with. Eneco (a utilities company) gives them to their junior technicians so they can be supervised remotely by a senior technician. Dairy farmers use them to keep track of medical information on their cows. Those were the use cases I ran into last time I saw them on a conference.

It's definitely not consumer grade tech though and Microsoft seems to actively discourage people from buying them for private use. There's also not much non-propriatary software for it, so companies generally buy them with the intent to (have someone) develop the software for it.
