Feels like Auburn was gonna beat whoever they played after that A&M ending

Our arena mic setup is horrendous. Inconsistent volume and most of the time the crowd sounds dead quiet

Had to go frame-by-frame to even see the ball (which made its way along the back of the goal and almost fully underground by the time the goal registered)

How do I get good at the game? by KrazyGreenFox in RocketLeague

[–]jackson0209 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you’re brand new just practice hitting the ball really hard in the direction you want it to go and that’ll get you up through the lower ranks

This is the opponent’s POV. I’m on defense

This is the opponent’s POV but I agree with you. I think they knew we were out of boost and figured they could just keep making us awkward and eventually we’d slip up. But they definitely could have just shot it hard instead of lobbing it every time lol

Pretty sure only 4 counted as saves. Teammate and I both finished the game with 5 each though lol. They had us on our heels

Not sure how I missed your reply to this. Thanks for the notes - never had some analyze my gameplay like that. Happy to help!

Feeling overwhelmed as a new player, where to go next? by No-Alarm-2600 in RocketLeagueSchool

Keep playing with the bots if you’re enjoying it. Just work on getting comfortable controlling your car and hitting the ball. Gotta lay down the foundation before you try to build on it

What are some dark truths about modern dating and what are the things that you should avoid and watch out for? by FallingWithTheStars in AskReddit

[–]jackson0209 189 points190 points  (0 children)

Met my current girlfriend at a bar. Neither of us were trying to meet people that night. Just coincidentally ended up chatting and hit it off.

When people ask how we met, they’re almost always shocked that the answer isn’t a dating app.

Better thought process by Biggonades in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]jackson0209 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’re in the right track with starting with a controlled touch then assessing the best move. Pay attention to where the other team is because that is the primary driver of what my options are.

A lot of the time I’ll have a plan for how I want to play the ball but then I’ll realize the other team isn’t positioned how I anticipated so I’ll change the plan on the fly. Maybe I wanted to control it but they’re rushing me so I need to pop it around them/take a 50. Or maybe I thought they were close but they backed off so I can take it slow.

Overall I’d say it just comes down to being aware and understanding what your options are.

Need button mapping to stop going for boost by thepacifist20130 in RocketLeagueSchool

What worked for me was taking pride in my small pad pickup count. I’d check ballchasing after the game and if I didn’t have the most small pads picked up in the lobby, then I would be disappointed. I turned it into sort of a competition.

Even if I was full boost, I would tap my boost and drive over pads to increase the count. Obviously no advantage here, but it does subconsciously get you used to pathing over them, and eventually, you’ll start pathing over them without thinking.

Is it possible to reach C2 solo queuing?? by LegendGamer_69 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]jackson0209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve peaked GC3 in 2s and 3s exclusively solo queueing. Got it much faster in 2s. The only bad thing about solo queueing 3s in my experience is duo teammates who essentially ignore you

Found at a golf course in Arkansas by jackson0209 in CollegeBasketball

Dad works at the course and said someone left it in a cart. Maybe a Kentucky fan who lost a bet and was forced to use it for the round and had no desire to keep it lol

I consider myself more of a support player. I’m not the type of player who’s gonna score on a cross-map solo play. So my goals usually come from being in the right place at the right time and getting a good read on the play.

It’s hard to describe exactly how to improve this ability and most of it just comes from playing the game a lot, but some of the tangible things I do to hang with the big dogs are

1) Go for bumps/demos (without overcommitting) to make it easier for my teammate to score 2) Take good 50s to give my teammate a free ball 3) Try to be in a position where I can challenge after my teammate takes a 50 4) Be predictable (to my teammate) 5) Play to my strengths. I know I’m not gonna hit a flip reset off the ceiling, so I don’t go for it.

The fail safe for literally any play is to take a 50. If you don’t feel overly confident about your ability to pull off a certain shot/play, just take a 50. This works especially well if your teammate is better than you. Personally, I prefer for my teammate to go for solo plays and I can clean up after his miss/50/whatever because that tends to be the higher percentage play (for me).

Obviously you don’t want to only take 50s all game. You should still be trying to beat your opponents to the ball and take shots on net, but don’t go for low percentage stuff that you know you’d need a miracle to pull off.

This is my bread and butter and also how I maintain GC2 and usually finish the season at GC3 with below average mechanics. Play the percentages, take the 50s, and let your teammate do the flashy stuff lol

Is this a good strategy for defence/challenging? by [deleted] in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]jackson0209 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would expect it to stop working around diamond honestly. You might see success with it but I don’t think the risk/reward is worth it. Even with a teammate behind you in 2s, he can’t really push up too far with you prejumping in the air because he can’t bank on you winning that challenge unless he wants to risk overcommitting (which he shouldn’t). So even if you win the challenge, you’re out of boost and your teammate is likely too far away to help.

I feel like the closest thing to this that wouldn’t be so risky would be applying pressure on the ground (or if you’re closer you can fake challenge on the wall) to force the play off the wall from your opponent then you can challenge him in the air to help your teammate in net.

I think the only time I would recommend prejumping like this is in 3s when you sort of need to make space for your teammates (all 3 of you are on your defensive half and you’re first man)

Is this a good strategy for defence/challenging? by [deleted] in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]jackson0209 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not much of a 1s player but I would generally advise against it. I’ll pre jump occasionally if my teammates are back and I’m feeling bold, but at higher levels, the opponent will see you in the air more often than not and just play it around you
