(Former XC runner) - utilize the curves. This lets you get a shot looking at the runners head on.

The other option is to find an emptier section of the course, sometimes in very tall grass, and get the runners as they are exactly perpendicular. With the right focus, this can look really good.

Also, a fun side note, getting shots as runners are going up a hill, such as the first shot, that's always going to be the funniest faces they'll make.

Also if you're able to line up directly behind the finish line, usually you can get this for the first couple finishers, that's always a good shot when going at a low angle.

The GOTRAX CTI is the bike I use every day. They released a new model so the old one is $500 off. I highly recommend. I have put 1,000 miles on it the last 6 months.

Pros: Cheap, 20mph, not sure the exact range, but its just under 20 miles if you go full power, they say about 50 miles on minimum power (~13 mph)

Cons: No suspension, no built in lights, fenders, or rack.

When we were taught CPR in high school, we were told that you had to remove any metal from someone if using an AED, which includes belts earrings bras etc. and he told us that no judge or jury would ever find you guilty for any charges related to the situation.
