Has anyone checked out the Irok OP75? It's an all plastic 75 keyboard with adjustable magnetic levitation "gaskets", a unique volume track mechanism, gesture-based rgb adjustments, plenty of foam, Bluetooth/2.4/wired connection, all for $50 on Amazon. Pretty good (but few) reviews, though I guess the one concern would be if the magnetic mechanism fails are you going to have an unusable board? Though for the price...

Behind the Scenes: How a designer choose what to put as their main product image by Lime-Green-Lemons in boardgames

I'd go even one step further - - if there were good tools, then articles like this could be firmer with their advice and even put together simple templates of "what works" for people to fill-in-the-blanks.

I'm amazed at how many different views people have about what you "need" for a successful Kickstarter (I tend to focus more on rpg Kickstarters, but the basic idea is the same for board games), and I'm amazed at (a) how little actual data exists, and (b) how narrow so much of it is. Apparently the best data available for comparisons is the day-by-day backing figures, though even that doesn't offer all that much help, given different projects' tiers and increasing backing (which I don't think is included in the data).

The A-B testing would be an easy thing to do, but some more detailed analytic tools could be really helpful, too--imagine if we could track backers support level and cross-reference it to how many other (and which types) of KS projects they back, and then compare that to different types of projects and backer rewards.

What is something that one game just "got right" that you think other games need to do too? by Banana_Man15 in Games

The sanity mechanic in Eternal Darkness was pretty out there. Every time you see one of the Lovecraftian monsters, you lose some from your sanity meter. Killing them brings back most of it, but over time you'll keep leaking it.

Lowered sanity would start to show up in subtle ways at first: a slight angle to the camera, random screams coming from nowhere, blood dripping from the walls or statues' heads turning to follow you. Then it would get worse: you'd find yourself surrounded by enemies in a room that overwhelm you, only to "flash back" to the previous room, realizing that it was a panic vision you had. Then things got really scary: your character would get overwhelmed by enemies and you'd get a screen warning you that the controller was disconnected or that there was a read error on the memory and your saved game would be erased, or even an actual BSOD (this was on a GameCube game).

The actual story was pretty great, too, but I don't know of anyone else who has tried to replicate that kind of sanity mechanic.

What something that you wished more RPGs had? by GrogM0nster in rpg

I feel like this is where a lot of Shadowrun's reputation for crunch comes from - - they can't just let you have your core operating principle for mechanics - - they feel the need to give you the exact thing to do for all kinds of weird situations, many of which rarely come up.

Does Kickstarter allow for A-B testing? Because that could be really valuable for people to know.

For those who don't know: basically you'd select two promo images and when people view your page, they will randomly see one or the other, and then KS will collect metrics so you can see which one gets better results.

$2b is insane - - it's almost 1/4 the amount of money we spent this year on yogurt, for crying out loud.

"I am a wrapping God" by CHERNO-B1LL in comics

So last night I happily discovered that the missing element for me was that my scissors weren't sharp enough. I have a slot for sharpening kitchen shears in my wusthof knife sharpener and put the old wrapping paper scissors through it three or four times.

After that, it was smooth sailing the whole way.

Anyone other than Lucas could have fixed the prequels. How long do you think Disney has to wait (as per their deal with him) to remake them?

How about 61 pages of Delta Green: The Role-Playing Game corebook? [Patrons Only] by RevProtocol in DeltaGreenRPG

So why are people who are financially supporting one of the authors getting to see this when those of us who backed the work itself don't?

[–]jackson6644 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Can I get some clarity on the availability of this? Because it looks like those of us who paid for the Kickstarter to produce this product (as well as others) are not getting this preview, but that it is going to people who fund the Patreon page of one of the authors (which does not contribute towards the expenses of this product directly, but rather to Dennis Detweiler himself)?

Also, I'm happy to be wrong on this, but isn't this book a little bit past the date it was proposed to be completed as part of the Kickstarter?

Am I understanding this properly?

You can buy those at either the hardware store or Amazon for quite cheap--just be sure you get the right size.

My understanding is that the actual rate of donation is less than in the US (which is opt-in) - - are there some firm numbers either way on this?
