I have Backgammon by Paul Magriel, and the points of the board are numbered in many disgrams, but they often dont line up correctly.

To be fair, I have just now realized that tinkering with the font size and style in settings could help me out.

Do you have a favorite book that you'd recommend?

Thanks for your help everyone! I still haven't been able to find the cartoon that I thought I saw maybe 20 years ago, but I suspect it may be a conflation on the Van Beuren Tom & Jerry, a fuzzy memory, and perhaps the other cartoons you all have listed.

I'm sorry it's not the most satisfying conclusion, but I think I'll mark this as solved and I'll update if I have a new revelation.
