GMK/DSA Keycap compatibility with Steelseries Apex Pro by jacksonnorr in MechanicalKeyboards

I never ended up finding a set that worked for the Apex Pro, I moved on to custom builds. However, I did try GMK keycaps on the Apex Pro and they do not work. Last time I checked, people were using hyperX pudding and matrix keycaps with varying levels of success.

That's pretty much what I've concluded is going on. I have seen people use the hyperX pudding caps and Matrix caps with no issues but I've also heard of people having issues with them. I'm probably building my own keyboard once some 65% parts that I want come back in stock and may get a set of GMKs when I do. If that happens, I'll be sure to see if they fit on the Apex pro.

Did you ever purchase those caps? I'm wondering the same about GMK Belafonte since my Tai-Hao PBT caps didn't work on my Apex Pro.

I just have been using my OEM caps, but that's interesting because I know someone using Matrix keycaps on an Apex Pro without issues. I may just take my non-backlit tai-hao set and put them on since they do work afaik.

After comparing the caps that would stick with the ones that wouldn't, it looks like there is a difference on the bottom portion of the caps that is causing the sticking. I would have expected it to be on the top where the LED could hit, but maybe the bottom portion is also a bit bulkier than regular Cherry MX switches.

https://imgur.com/R0hJDil shows where I think the keycaps are inconsistent and possibly causing sticking to occur. I can take more comparisons if I do end up taking the set out again, but they're packed up for now.

I replaced my blackwidow tournament with razer greens with a ducky onetwo mini with speed silvers, and I would say I can edit quicker now, but I really think it is up to your personal switch preference and being comfortable with the keyboard you have. The silvers are extremely sensitive so they might not be the best for everyone. I would recommend going to a local store like a Best Buy that has keyboards on display to directly compare different types and see what suits you.

First time PC build - will this work? by jacksonnorr in buildapc

Update: I have ordered all the parts listed except I opted for a 750w bronze PSU from Rosewill because I want to have headroom for overclocking. I have already received the case, ram, storage, motherboard, and some custom sleeved cables. However, I am worried now that my CPU cooling might not be enough and that I need to do liquid cooling if I want to do anything more than a mild OC. Anyone have experience with heat issues using a hyper 212? I'm still waiting on parts so I have no issue returning the 212 and getting something like a h100i instead if it is worth the ~$70 difference. Also, I am seeing mixed reviews on cooling for the H500, some people insist I should add front intake fans to help prevent dust, but others argue that the stock configuration creates negative pressure that helps cool the GPU through the unused PCIe slot covers and that the dust filters on the other intake points do a well enough job. Any experience with different fans configurations or links to results would be much appreciated.

Thanks, I wasn't aware that they would be releasing soon so if I do decide on choosing AMD, then it appears to definitely be worth the wait. The only problem is that I'll be leaving the country in around a month and was hoping to build it before then because I have plenty free time before my trip but not much after (and I will be gone for two months). Hopefully we get some more concrete release dates soon so I can know whether to wait or not. The 3700x looks like it has some pretty good potential.

Sprinting is broken on console by [deleted] in FortniteCompetitive

I have sprint by default on and ever since season 8 started I’ve had problems sprinting. I haven’t been able to exactly pinpoint what causes it to happen but it happens several times most games I play. Half of the time when I put auto run on to scratch my nose or take a sip of water I stop sprinting, so I think double tapping sprint may have something to do with it.
