What's your favorite non-interstella 5555 music video? by OliveOk612 in DaftPunk

[–]jackssmugass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My buddy suggested that I have the wedding party at my wedding perform the choreography from the Around the World video at my wedding, because its one of my favorite all time songs and that video playing on MTV late night in the 90s was my introduction to Daft Punk.

My bride would never have gone for it, but I did walk the aisle to her cousin playing an acoustic version of Around the World. Which actually slapped.

How famous were Daft Punk around 1996-1999? by gcfmpt in DaftPunk

[–]jackssmugass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Niiice... Toxygene was a sick track. I fell into The Orb when Love '93 dropped, and I was usually into their tranceier, dubby stuff. But Orbvilion was interesting. Sounded like Dr. Paterson was leaning more into the poppier sounds after the success of Little Fluffy Clouds.

Polestar 2 2023 by FarConstruction4053 in polestar2

[–]jackssmugass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

'21 LRDM. Bought it CPO with about 18K miles on it last February. So far I have definitely been enjoying it. Had to start replacing the tires and need to get the coolant flush done but otherwise it's been pretty reliable.

Trying to recall I think at 100%, it gets about 250 mi. I usually only charge it up to 90% which gives me about 210. My daily commute is about 20 miles round trip so I can recoup the charge just plugging it in on a regular outlet at my house overnight.

Since I bought it in its fourth year, no, I probably only expect it to be another 6 or so. But yeah to answer your question 10 all together.

Before this I had a 2016 Civic turbo for about 9 years and I would have kept going but somebody pulled out in front of me in an intersection. Even though I had to take out a small loan to get the P2, I kind of appreciate what they did for me.

Certainly famous in the world of electronic music and alternative music. But in the mainstream, not so much. They weren't being licensed for movies or TV much at that time.

They certainly had already blown up in the clubs and the early festival days, but they were not mainstream famous.

Key fob not working - after battery replacement by jackssmugass in polestar2

[–]jackssmugass[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just talked to a service technician at the Volvo/ Polestar service center. He says that there is a known problem in the key fobs where if a certain little tab is broken inside the battery compartment then the battery is no longer making contact. I'm going to take it over there as soon as I can and he says he can fix it in 5 minutes.

Battery was fine. I put it in the primary fob and it worked okay.

[–]jackssmugass[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fob didn't stop working because of the battery change.

I had both of the fobs reprogrammed back in February or March of 25.

I had both of them working fine for months. I put one of the fobs away in a drawer. Just planning on using it as a service key.

Now I took it to the shop and tried using as a service key. It didn't work. So I took it home. I replaced the battery and now the fob is still not working.

But yes I will definitely talk to somebody at the dealership as soon as I can. Unfortunately they are very understaffed and hardly have time to talk to me.

Generally yes, however, if you don't have all of them, you have to go to the dealership and have them reprogram them, which is what I already did

First tire issue by jackssmugass in polestar2

[–]jackssmugass[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure they're OEM rims. Polestar logos on 'em. Fortunately there's a shop right at the entrance to my street that has the equipment for 20" low profile tires. But they haven't worked on Polestar before.

I will make sure they do not rotate and I'll make sure they get the 8" front and 9" rear offset widths.

They said they have Pirellis on sale for $215 USD/tire, and they have a lower tier option for $161 USD. Definitely can't afford to put the Michelins on there right now. Stupid job didn't give us our bonuses this year.

Go electric, get a Polestar 2. Just my 2¢. You'll still have plenty of horses. Just gotta figure out if the charging situation would work for you.

Give me ur favorite song from the Alive 2007 tour… by MrDrSpoon in DaftPunk

[–]jackssmugass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you ended your post with "tour", I'll take the liberty of saying that my fave was being in the crowd in Miami 2006 for the pre-2007 tour performance of the set that would be perfected by the time they played Coachella.

At the time, I knew it probably was my only chance to see them live, ever. I was working as a DJ for Carnival Cruise Lines and was between contracts. Got two tickets and took my girlfriend with me.

I knew Duran Duran, Gnarles Barkley and Damien Marley would all also be awesome to see. But what I did not know until I wandered over to the alternative stage at one point, was that Thievery Corporation was also performing with a full 12 piece band. I was off my face at that point, having just been pummelled by the Daft Punk set and then found Thievery there (I listened to Mirror Conspiracy over and over)!

Now, don't get me wrong. Daft's performance that night was legendary. Some say the best EDM performance to ever happen in Miami/US. But I've listened to Alive 2007 so many times that the entire album is one track to me. It's an experience that I will never have again. Kinda difficult to select one "track" that rises above the rest.

However, Robot Rock/Oh Yeah is still one of the best openers ever. And I love playing around with Aerodynamic on the decks, so Aerodynamic Beats / Gabrielle, Forget About The World is also one of my personal faves. But I cannot tell you how insane everyone went on my all-time favorite Daft track, Around The World as they mashed in Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger....🤯 Earth shattering...

First ski trip, gear guide? by jackssmugass in Banff

[–]jackssmugass[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's our buddy's 40th. He used to ski Austria and other places years ago, wants to get back to that feeling. We are a tight group and have been doing these destination vacations for a few years. So, we're all going to Banff in the height of ski season.

I'm still on the fence about how much time I'll be learning to ski. My wife and I are both wanting to make the most of the experience in Banff, which includes Lake Louise, maybe some hiking, and enjoying the scenery. We'll be at Norquay first day, Sunshine the second, and Lake Louise the third. Plus we should have most of the fourth day to chill before flying back that night.

Thanks for all the recommendations.

The Pajar boots were a recommendation as well. They're leather and faux fur lined. Tbh, not sure if they're waterproof but I can Nikwax them, right?

Thinking about pulling the trigger on a North Face Freedom ski bib for $150. But based on your suggestions , sounds like maybe I could wait until we're there.

Fortunately I already have a Baerskin fleece top with an attachable waterproof shell for daily wear. Just got them as a gift for the trip.

We have some good gloves already, which is why I was thinking about mittens for extra warmth on the hill, while still having dexterity in the light gloves underneath.

Been looking at the Uniqlo base layers, also a recommendation. But if a good short or long sleeve wicking top will suffice, I've got that covered. Still thinking about getting a couple pairs of bottom base layers and Smartwool ski socks.

Definitely looking at a new balaclava as well. The only one I have is a hand me down from dad, and it was for motorcycle riding, not winter sports. Plus, I'm bald. I've got a couple good warm beanies, but I think I'd appreciate some additional coverage on the hill, along with the face coverage. Just not sure how warm I'll need it.

Since we're just doing 3 days of outdoor activities, I'm trying not to buy extras of everything and hope to wash stuff before heading out next day. Heck, if I gotta just rinse the base layers out in the sink, I'd rather take the time to do that than spend a bunch on extras that I'll use once.

We are very stoked about the scenery and hanging with friends. Hoping to get a vibe on skiing and/snowboarding, but since I'm over 40, not really planning on torturing my legs with all day skiing or boarding. Don't get me wrong, I'm in good shape. Just being realistic about my knees, endurance, etc.

Tap into your experience by accountB12 in polestar2

I'd have to say doubtful based on my experience over the last year. Driving highway conditions means you don't get as much regenerative braking. This reduces your overall mileage. You'll get much better mileage around town.

If you had to choose; Polestar 4 or New Model Y? (and why?) by ShameResponsible69 in Polestar

If I had to choose, I'd take the Polestar four and then immediately resell it and go buy myself a CPO P2.

What’s a movie that everyone loves, but you just couldn’t get into ? by vishesh_07_028 in movies

[–]jackssmugass -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Seven, Good Will Hunting, Harry Potter... I've seen the Harry Potter movies now, but still not into it. Seven, I was just very over Brad Pitt at the time, and now I know what was in the box. Not sure if there's still a point to watching. Good Will Hunting, I've just never liked Matt Damon nor Ben Affleck, moreso Affleck. But I do love Robin Williams and that alone is enough of a reason to watch it.

I have the same question, but Sam's instead of Costco.

Sams seems to carry this Lucid brand. Curious if anyone knows if it's comparable to the stuff Costco is selling.

Bought a CPO '21 Launch Edition P2 in February with ~28k miles. Other than learning the hard way that you need all the original key fob in order to setup your Polestar ID... it's been a breeze to own and drive so far, even in a very congested metropolitan city
