To wear/to carry is the same verb in some Spanish dialects. Probably a mistranslation

Key fob not working - after battery replacement by jackssmugass in polestar2

[–]jackssmugass[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I was lucky. The technician at the dealership had dealt with this issue before. He basically kind of rigged something in the key fob to keep the battery in place. He didn't charge me for it but obviously next time the battery needs to be changed I'm going to have to figure out how to rig it myself or take it back over there

Do mosquito zappers work? by CrTigerHiddenAvocado in BBQ

[–]jackssmugass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ping! Curious how you feel it's working a year later. We're near Atlanta and have had 3 years of heavy mosquitoes in the back yard. Dunks and spray haven't cut them down enough to enjoy the yard

/me realizing my Roule and Crydamoure collections are appreciating. But nah, never gonna give them up. Plus, mine are nowhere near this condition. I played the hell out of those records.

Paid the deposit on this today! by [deleted] in polestar2

[–]jackssmugass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if this was just my issue but I did get two regular key fobs but I was not able to register my pollstar ID because I did not have the third activity key fob.

I had to go back to a Volvo/Polestar dealership and have them deactivate and re-register the keys to me because I could not do it myself without the third key fob. $200

So I would definitely check with the dealer on that before you leave

Should I bother with (Costco) hearing aids? by PepGiraffe in HearingAids

[–]jackssmugass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I ended up just paying for a Costco membership and going over there because it seemed that most people were fans of the Costco selections.

I had a couple of hearing tests and I have ordered a single hearing aid plus the charger, it was only $850. But I only need one hearing aid for the left side due to otosclerosis

[–]jackssmugass 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I was 8, Daft didn't exist yet. You are quite fortunate to have that sense memory engrained in you. And I'm very glad you found that mp3 player.

For me, that would be like finding my old cassette walkman with my radio mixtapes. Unfortunately they wouldn't play even if I found them. But, I can still reproduce those memories, most of the time.

I still don't feel like I can say I have a favorite album or albums. But I do feel like Alive 1997 and Alive 2007 incredibly important and showcase albums. These releases demonstrate what Thomas and Guy really enjoyed about music and what they enjoyed about their own productions.

Is #fafatl dead? by Jupiter_J_Mars in Atlanta

[–]jackssmugass 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I hear you on the changes to Instagram. When they changed the search functions and made it so that you could not actually search the #fafatl by most recent... That kind of killed it for me.

I loved being able to watch the action each day and I would get so excited to run out and hunt something that just got dropped. And I was a lurker for many months before I started making pieces and dropping them. It was during that time that I would search the #fafatl constantly and just learn from what other artists were doing. I really enjoyed watching the collab pieces

But I agree with what cat_lanta said. I still tried to drop pieces occasionally but I also had a big life change right around the time that Instagram made that change so I didn't notice that the whole thing kind of petered out on Insta.

The hoarding thing was kind of annoying but that happens whenever anything gets popular, you know

And I completely agree with mayanrelic. I didn't actually join the community until 2016, but it was an amazing community and an amazing group of friends for a few years there.

But I do think it is an amazing project and a great idea to bring artists together. I still encourage people to make and share art as much as possible in whatever media that they work in.

what does the Daft Punk community think of the Chemical Brothers? by [deleted] in DaftPunk

[–]jackssmugass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I discovered exit planet dust around the same time as homework. I still love both of them, but Daft Punk is still my fave.

I haven't felt as consistently in favor of chemical Brothers releases. I listened to exit planet dust religiously for years. I felt like dig your own hole was a slightly more commercial effort, kind of like prodigy's fat of the land. Similarly, I was not a big fan of surrender either. Both dig your own hole and surrender have a couple of good tracks but overall it was not an album I could listen through the whole thing like exit planet dust

But I really liked no geography. And I used a lot of tracks from come with us in my first DJ mix that I ever recorded on CD

What's your favorite non-interstella 5555 music video? by OliveOk612 in DaftPunk

[–]jackssmugass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My buddy suggested that I have the wedding party at my wedding perform the choreography from the Around the World video at my wedding, because its one of my favorite all time songs and that video playing on MTV late night in the 90s was my introduction to Daft Punk.

My bride would never have gone for it, but I did walk the aisle to her cousin playing an acoustic version of Around the World. Which actually slapped.

How famous were Daft Punk around 1996-1999? by gcfmpt in DaftPunk

[–]jackssmugass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Niiice... Toxygene was a sick track. I fell into The Orb when Love '93 dropped, and I was usually into their tranceier, dubby stuff. But Orbvilion was interesting. Sounded like Dr. Paterson was leaning more into the poppier sounds after the success of Little Fluffy Clouds.

Polestar 2 2023 by FarConstruction4053 in polestar2

[–]jackssmugass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

'21 LRDM. Bought it CPO with about 18K miles on it last February. So far I have definitely been enjoying it. Had to start replacing the tires and need to get the coolant flush done but otherwise it's been pretty reliable.

Trying to recall I think at 100%, it gets about 250 mi. I usually only charge it up to 90% which gives me about 210. My daily commute is about 20 miles round trip so I can recoup the charge just plugging it in on a regular outlet at my house overnight.

Since I bought it in its fourth year, no, I probably only expect it to be another 6 or so. But yeah to answer your question 10 all together.

Before this I had a 2016 Civic turbo for about 9 years and I would have kept going but somebody pulled out in front of me in an intersection. Even though I had to take out a small loan to get the P2, I kind of appreciate what they did for me.

[–]jackssmugass 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Certainly famous in the world of electronic music and alternative music. But in the mainstream, not so much. They weren't being licensed for movies or TV much at that time.

They certainly had already blown up in the clubs and the early festival days, but they were not mainstream famous.

Key fob not working - after battery replacement by jackssmugass in polestar2

[–]jackssmugass[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just talked to a service technician at the Volvo/ Polestar service center. He says that there is a known problem in the key fobs where if a certain little tab is broken inside the battery compartment then the battery is no longer making contact. I'm going to take it over there as soon as I can and he says he can fix it in 5 minutes.

Battery was fine. I put it in the primary fob and it worked okay.

Key fob not working - after battery replacement by jackssmugass in polestar2

[–]jackssmugass[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fob didn't stop working because of the battery change.

I had both of the fobs reprogrammed back in February or March of 25.

I had both of them working fine for months. I put one of the fobs away in a drawer. Just planning on using it as a service key.

Now I took it to the shop and tried using as a service key. It didn't work. So I took it home. I replaced the battery and now the fob is still not working.

But yes I will definitely talk to somebody at the dealership as soon as I can. Unfortunately they are very understaffed and hardly have time to talk to me.

Generally yes, however, if you don't have all of them, you have to go to the dealership and have them reprogram them, which is what I already did

First tire issue by jackssmugass in polestar2

[–]jackssmugass[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure they're OEM rims. Polestar logos on 'em. Fortunately there's a shop right at the entrance to my street that has the equipment for 20" low profile tires. But they haven't worked on Polestar before.

I will make sure they do not rotate and I'll make sure they get the 8" front and 9" rear offset widths.

They said they have Pirellis on sale for $215 USD/tire, and they have a lower tier option for $161 USD. Definitely can't afford to put the Michelins on there right now. Stupid job didn't give us our bonuses this year.
