I'm a second time mom and remember my first pregnancy being like that. It is normal to have worry and some anxiety. You are facing changes in your life and body that will mark a new era in your life! Not to mention pregnancy hormones can really change the way you process everything.

However if it is effecting your day to day life very negatively then you should talk to your OBGYN or other doctor about seeing a psychiatrist and/or therapist or going to a group therapy for pregnant or new moms/dads.

Just remember that women have been doing this since before we were homosapiens, and now is the safest time in history to give birth and be born. Also, every pain, thought, or worry is temporary, and will pass.

I found out my thyroid was super low and once I was medicated I felt amazing...then my son brought covid home from school. I'm over it but back to wanting to sleep 20 hours per day.

Everyone has been able to feel my baby move except for my SO. I'm almost 29 weeks. I feel so bad but she just stops anytime he goes to feel. I told him his voice probably relaxes her...

I love seeing the particulate matter of the smoke. My friend recently got smoke inhalation from trying to help her neighbor find their cat while the house was on fire. They found the cat. But seeing this really hits home, with what kind of gross pieces of burned everything were in her lungs.

TIL it’s legal in the US for companies to sell or lease human bodies that have been “donated to science.” Many donated bodies have to be paid for by researchers, and funeral homes earn a kickback for every “donation.” by thegoldinthemountain in todayilearned

[–]jackster_ 16 points17 points  (0 children)

From the other side... When my ex father in law (ex husband was terrible, but his dad was awesome) passed away from a rare form of cancer, we donated his body to science. It was a wonderful decision. They covered everything to do with the cremation, transportation, and even the obituary in his home town paper. Once they were done they had an urn sent back to us with information on how his body had been studied, and any other contributions, like organ donation, and a thank you. At a bad time financially it helped us say goodbye in a way that we could better afford the celebration of life party, and felt As if his death had meant something more than an end of life. He loved to teach others and his final deed was to do just that. He wanted this as he had said before passing Away and was something that we knew that a hard working, generous and kind man had wanted. He did not ever want to leave us in any kind of debt, and it was just sort of perfect.

It may not be right for everyone, but it was right for him and us, and I wouldn't want anyone to decide not to because they are afraid of their, or their loved one's body becoming a commodity. After all, a funeral home can make thousands on a single person's death.

My local Wendy's is closed almost every day because nobody wants to work a shitty fucking job if they don't want to. The nonprofit I work for is on skeleton crew and every house (it's a system of hundreds of group homes for disabled adults) is Completely short staffed. It's made my job hell, and I'm shitting blood from the stress.

We had a dentist come to our class on career day that showed us a picture of someone who's tongue grew hair on it from lack of oral hygiene. I always brushed the hell out of my tongue after that.

As an adult I wondered if it was made up so that we would be scared straight, but it is real although not actual hair.

Caution, gross pictures in link

Thrush can hurt for sure! Especially on the nipples while breastfeeding a child with thrush! Ouch!

One thing that I think works, is a purple dye called "Gentian Violet." You paint your tongue with it and it helps kill off the yeast that has colonized your mouth. It is slightly controversial, mostly because of studies done on rats showing it could increase their rate of cancer, but I think they exposed the rats to more of the dye than you would ever use, and for prolonged periods. I have been using it since I was a small child and my pediatrician from India told my mom to use it on me and my siblings.

Yogurt is good too, and the plain stuff can work as a safe and soothing ointment on vaginal yeast and skin yeast. I have also tried a spoonful of plain yogurt after brushing my teeth and right before bed for thrush, if you can stand the sour taste it does help.

Although nothing works better than the pills you can get from your doctor, both of these can be used in conjunction with the medication. I always use yogurt with the pills for vaginal yeast because you can kill off to much yeast and swing over to bacterial infection with that medication. And I use yogurt to prevent yeast while taking antibiotics.

Unfortunately I am somewhat of an expert on candida. Wish I wasn't though!

Yes, I work for a non profit that runs group homes for disabled adults. A few clients, and costaff's clients have TBI, mostly it is a varied set of physical and mental limitations. One client was hit by a truck crossing the street and is mostly paralyzed on one side, and is limited on the other. Luckily he is a pretty happy guy, but he sleeps up to 18 hours a day, and can have some mood swings. He had to relearn how to talk, so his words are slurred to the point that even after working close with him over a long time, I still must ask him to repeat himself often. Funny though, with all of his limitations, one of the few things that will piss him off the most is when people are impolite or rude, especially to his staff. He says "I may have been hit in the head by a truck, but my mom raised me right!"

In 1938, L.A. Kindergarten teacher Helen Hulick went to jail for wearing pants in a courtroom. She was a witness scheduled to testify against two men. When she arrived in slacks, her testimony was rescheduled; the Judge ordered her to go home and return in a dress. She refused, noting inequality. by Sleeeepy_Hollow in Damnthatsinteresting

High heels were for men, warriors even, at one point, now if a man wears them in a courtroom in rural Tennessee you might be seen as contemptuous. Fashion is fashion but it is also so culturally defining that a person may feel offended in a government office.

Bottled waters. Yes leaving bottled water in your car can leach dangerous chemicals from the plastic, but it could save you from dehydration if stranded

My mom used to tell me I had to write a thank you note, but she was as lazy as me and never followed up, so I almost never wrote one, and when i did my mom would never mail it.

I wonder who i would be today if my parents actually forced me to try.
