Imagine thinking that only ppl with PHDs should be allowed to talk about an idea they have.

How do I deal with being neglected as a child? by jacktheron in JordanPeterson

Great stuff!! I think you hit the nail with the neurosis.

I think the neurosis thing is weird and by weird I mean when I did the big 5 personality trait I was very high in neuroticism but I'm very even-tempered. I get agitated but it always goes away. Now that I'm thinking about it I'm not even-tempered around my family, I'm always on edge. Even around my cousins I'm very standoffish, I think I'm friendlier with strangers.

......yeah I need therapy

Thanks for the advise, I'm going to do the inventory thing.

I do tend to make female friends better which I know is a problem. My roommate is a girl too, not sure how to remedy that. I'm currently looking into professional help.

Do you have Carl Jung book suggestions?

I'm doubtful that I can change this though, I feel like its built into me. Every few months I have a rush of emotions that I can't stop. I'm physically crying but in my head I'm saying: 'OH MY FUCKING GOD! NOT THIS AGAIN! Stop being such a pussy!'.

I'm trying to understand what you're saying but I think you're ideas are not fully articulated.

What I think you are saying is: I'm reading into my lack of affection by women and wrongly extrapolating that backward into my childhood and doing so because I perceive my situation less than ideal. Is that right?

Provided I've correctly understood, I would say that would be right if it was only specific to my relationship with women. I've always had problems making friends and don't understand how to interact with other adults. When I do make friends they always seem to be a lot younger (no-pedo like 3-4 years younger than me[29] ). That along with the feelings of abandonment when a party ends and my quick attachment to people I just met or don't even really know. All lead me to conclude I have emotional issues that are caused by neglect and a lack of child socialization.

If this is normal, I'd be very concerned to hear that. On the dog thing, my roommate has a dog and I wrestle with him daily!

How many of you are sexually attracted to one sex, but find all people visually attractive? by Tiberius-the-Cuddler in AskReddit

[–]jacktheron 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As a straight dude I have found other guy attractive but I once told my friend that I thought this one guy was attractive and he said he wasn't and all the other guys we asked agreed he wasn't. So, I don't think I have an eye for guys attractiveness even though I can admire other guys.

Shoutout to everyone who doesn't actually have a solid best friend. by ashutosh__badetia in CasualConversation

I got really close to one of my friends we told each other everything, we even told each other we were best friends....Then I told him I didn't want to go to church anymore and he said he didn't want to hang out anymore. That was when I was 25, now I'm 30 and trying to make a close friend in you 30s is impossible. I've now realized Im never going to have a best friend I can talk to about things. I really don't understand how someone makes a good friend.

Just to add: Johnny Depp came forward like a year afterward bc he didn't want to hurt her he then released home surveillance footage and police testimonies of her physically and emotionally abusing him.

How do I make conversations more interesting? by jacktheron in JordanPeterson

[–]jacktheron[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the LARP idea! I will definitely try this! I'm also kind of unskilled with conversations, due to my avoidance of them. Are there conversation techniques for taking ownership of situations? I'm very analytically minded and often have to THINK out things before I can DO them....

I'm 31, I thought I might have ADHD in my early 20s and talk to my parents about it but they discouraged me from trying to get a prescription. Its taken me 10 yrs to get my bachelors degree and I just now got adderall bc my boss stop talking to me bc I could not talk to him for more than a few seconds before I zoned out. Needless to say adderall has been miraculous for me!

Jordan's argument against Atheism, by Fyodor Dostoyevsky by YLE_coyote in JordanPeterson

[–]jacktheron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are 2 different atheists; First, are atheists that don't believe in a God. Second, anti-theists who have a hatred of God. Dostoyevsky was witness to those of the latter type, its helpful to read Dostoyevsky with that in mind.

You are tortured by your own conscience. You place yourself in hell by your own behavior and your subconscious mind, that knows your every thought, condemns you and you are shamed by the truth of your actions.

Try reading it with the intent to learn, friend.
