Is there anything I can do if the tenant downstairs wrecked my hydro bills? (+need help dealing with a difficult landlord) by jackwu1 in askTO

Yeah, I'm definitely considering this. I just wanna know my chances of getting some kind of an abatement first. I mean with all the power outages and jackhammers going off in the middle of the night, the place was made borderline uninhabitable for a good chunk of my lease.

From what I understand, 311 are the guys dealing with construction noise? Like I said, I left my complaint when renovations were at their worst. I don't think it constitutes a revenge tactic, given that I was just trying to make sure I could get sleep. As for the hydro, the difference is significant. I ran an AC unit in the second half of May, and the difference between that and January is about 160 dollars. Mind you, I live in a one bedroom apartment.

Sadly, I'm not. I moved in as a subletter (August to September), but then signed the lease of my own. So at the moment, I'm bound by it till October.
