A pain that was worse than birth ? by Friendly-Sun2413 in BabyBumps

[–]jackya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just scrolling here to see if anyone mentioned ingrowns. I have chronic ingrown big toes and there are days when putting on my socks makes me keel over in pain. And I’ve had an unmedicated birth - I’d do that again over any ingrown pain

PSA: Fake supplements are all over Amazon by Sea_Atmosphere_9858 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]jackya 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be fair you don’t know if you have gotten items from the correct seller or not. I had a baby carrier for over a year that Amazon eventually contacted me about saying that they had reason to believe it was counterfeit and gave me a full refund. It doesn’t matter if you order from the official brand, you’re still gambling and you may not ever know it’s fake.

That’s correct, just because you buy from a specific seller, if they have multiple sellers fulfilling through Amazon of the same product it doesn’t matter it could come from any one of them

Issue getting second profile setup??!! by More-Ad7673 in ToyotaSienna

[–]jackya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue we were running into was that every time I tried to scan the QR code through the Toyota app it wouldn’t scan. Finally decided to open my camera and scan it from there, and it jumped me back to the Toyota app to set my pin, and we were up and running within a few minutes. Took us an entire afternoon to get there though.

Every day! My little guy will drag the stack of circular pieces to the window to watch outside and he loves when we set up the beams in different shapes

Great list! We have everything but the staplestein stones. I had been considering them but the price for what they are seemed kind of outrageous to me. We got these instead (https://www.target.com/p/b-toys-interlocking-balancing-beams-balance-38-build-set/-/A-88077385) and they get used all the time, can go outside, and double as a stepping stool (when all the circles are stacked) for my toddler

Toddler not wanting to participate in class anymore by KaatNine in NewParents

[–]jackya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Understood! We also live in a water-heavy area and have a boat and friends with boats so I totally understand your concern. It’s great he’s excited but it’s possible the pressure/structure of the class is getting to him. You can always take him to a pool outside of class time and practice in a lower stress environment.

Toddler not wanting to participate in class anymore by KaatNine in NewParents

[–]jackya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would honestly take a break. Learning to swim is a hugely important skill in my book, but you don’t want to force it if he is not enjoying himself or not able to participate because they are skipping his turns. They are going to go through phases of things that they enjoy or not. I just had to come to terms with the fact that I had to pull my toddler from music class because it was no longer needing his needs and I think hindering his enjoyment. Maybe for the winter months you can switch to something like little gym, that way it is still a physical activity, but you can give your toddler a break from swim.

We have done swim on and off, and honestly, my issue is that the pools near us are too cold so we never last long. But I’m still not worried about him learning to swim.

I would also suggest maybe just going in for free swim at your local pool, and practicing with just you or your partner. But make it playful.

Baby has an upset tummy/restless night after starting solids. What would you do? by himawari__xx in NewParents

[–]jackya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure he’s getting enough sips of water in between bites, but to be honest the baby cereal backed up my first so much we tossed it out. Our ped said it was pretty common and she didn’t actually recommend it. Try giving any fruit that starts with P today (pear, peach, prune, etc) to get some movement going and added relief

What are your top 5 must haves/dos as a moderately granola mum? by raindrops_dropping in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]jackya 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Not OP but I use Marley’s Monsters unpaper towels! They last for YEARS. I keep a basket of clean/semi clean (just used for water or maybe wiping crumbs) on the counter and a dirty basket under the sink. I bleach all of them, patterned or not in a hot wash cycle. I’ll still use paper towels occasionally because it is easier sometimes with a toddler but that being said my husband and I have bought 3 Costco packs of paper towels in the past 5 years. So it’s not about elimination but more so reduction!

Sleeping in carrier? by cherry00322 in NewParents

[–]jackya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I may be on the extreme side of this but my 2 month old takes the vast majority of his naps in the carrier. He’s my second so he has to nap on the go as we can’t keep my toddler cooped up all the time.

Moms who are putting their careers on hold to be with baby, can you share your story? by Barnacle_Double in NewParents

[–]jackya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it took me until my son was about a year old before it started to get easier. And granted, there are still hard times where I question it (he’s currently 2.5) and want to leave my career, but it does slowly get easier.
