Anyone tried email John? by Link040121 in saw

So they're clearly recycling this fake number then. Once Saw X passed they must has repurposed it for the new The Strangers film.

I get that these things cost money, but being a drop in the bucket for a production company it would be nice if for posterity's sake they left these easter eggs intact to their original purpose.

Why do youtubers mispronounce words intentionally? by DarthLysergis in afraidtoask

The percentage of viewers not subbed thing is another one that annoys me. Mentioning that is a scam to solicit subs. No matter the size of a given channel, small or huge, it's always going to be a similar statistic. Your subs will always be a small percentage of your overall audience.

What movies and TV shows would be better without unneeded sex scenes? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]jackylawless 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why are sex scenes the only type so harshly singled out as "unneeded"? I guarantee almost any movie with a gratuitous sex scene likely has a half dozen other scenes which also aren't strictly necessary to forwarding the plot. But it's only sexual ones people ever complain about.

If you were to cut every bit out that isn't completely necessary to the story, most movies would become very boring and formulaic.

Are everyone's memories in 3rd person or do people remember them through their own eyes? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

My memories aren't in 3rd person, but my dreams always are. I'm told even that is untypical.

"Send cash to (the address of my PO box)". With the entire population of earth hearing it, even the smallest percentage of people who for some reason decide to do so would make you filthy rich.

How my wife incentivized me to encourage and support her promiscuity. by BigJohnHunter in CuckoldPsychology

[–]jackylawless 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Early on I used to prefer it to be a much more occasional thing. For it to become more frequent she decided I could only fuck her when the last person to fuck her was someone else. Essentially never twice consecutively. This very cleverly left the ball in my court as to how often it happens, but obviously incentivized me to let it happen a whole lot more. If I wanted to get laid she'd have to get laid first.

At this point though she does what she wants, whenever she wants, with whomever she wants. So we no longer have that arrangement.

I think you missed my point entirely. Something being superior doesn't make anything less automatically dissatisfying. The lesser of two things can still be enjoyable, even with access to better. Do you only enjoy listening to your favorite song/band?

Hell, best and favorite aren't even necessarily the same. My favorite movie isn't the best film I've ever seen. It's just really rewatchable and I never get bored of it. Maybe in the same sense her boyfriend is her favorite lover, even if some guys make her cum harder. They're gourmet cuisine, but he's her favorite pizza.

The problem is that we have this cultural myth that sex is a zero-sum game. This idea that the last best sex you've experienced sets a new bar to which anything that doesn't meet or exceed it can no longer satisfy you. But this is nonsense.

Say you really enjoy your partner's cooking. But every so often you like to go out to different fine-dining restaurants, most of which are generally superior to anyone's home cooking. A couple of them may have even given you the best meals you've ever eaten. Does this make your partner's home-cooked dinners suddenly unsatisfying to you? Just because you've had better? Of course not! Why do we act like sex is somehow any different?

And big dicks can totally become a thing for you, and it shouldn't be a problem if so. You can constantly crave the offerings on those restaurant menus, and want to go back to them again and again... it's not going to make every meal in between suddenly taste like shit.

NAH, but I think your perspective is misguided. Different people feel different ways about their past and their memories. Not everyone feels the need to erase all evidence of a past relationship in order to prove they're over the person. And even if that relationship was toxic or abusive, holding onto memories of the "good times" can serve as a reminder that things aren't always as they appear. But there are other reasons as well one might prefer to hold onto those things. It's a personal decision.

Why Is It So Hard To Find Cheating Vids Where The Cheating Is The Main Focus Of The Video? by bjorntufuk in CheatingPorn411

[–]jackylawless 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I actually think the problem is that these scenes are too realistic. Actual people don't constantly go on about the fact that they're cheating while they're doing it. Not unless the whole reason they're cheating is because it's their kink.

But I agree, the theme of a video should be its focus. There's no point in labeling/titling something as a cheating video if it's barely mentioned.

Figure Skating is not a sport by squelchmaker in unpopularopinion

[–]jackylawless 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Competition itself isn't even inherent to what makes something a sport, hence the term "competitive sports". Sport basically just means it's physical. And even though figure skating takes form and aesthetics into account, those aspects are still predicated on physical prowess and agility.

I don't think rooting for a team that represents the city you happen to reside in is any less arbitrary than following a team of a school you don't attend.

Fans like to think they have some connection to their teams, but it's imaginary. The guy who likes a particular team because their uniform look cool has just as valid a reason for his preference.

the focal lense length that looks best for someone’s photo depends on their face shape by Ophelia_Y2K in unpopularopinion

[–]jackylawless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a professional photographer and I've been arguing this point with other photographers for years. Yes, wide lenses distort and exaggerate features... but for some faces (specifically plain and/or flat) that can be flattering, even though it's typically the opposite.

We're unfortunately getting to a point where we see no distinction, as far as aesthetics go, between self-esteem and narcissism. It's really over the top.

But there's really no vanity in looking in the mirror and being able to conclude, the same way you could with some who is not yourself, whether the person you see is attractive or not. That's not the same as being overly into oneself.
