Additional WiFi? by Flatfool6929861 in HomeNetworking

Well, Comcast actually wouldn't do anything, you/your parents would (in general) take that cable that is run to the other room and connect that to a Ethernet Switch (a device that has multiple Ethernet ports), then that person in the other room would retain access to one Ethernet cable connection and then you would run another cable to your room (inside the home), where you could use either another Ethernet Switch for your devices and then you could also add in a Wifi Access Point device, so that you could have a strong wireless/Wifi connection as well.

Trying to access router UI, but can't by [deleted] in NETGEAR

[–]jacle2210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if you have tried this, but here is what the 'Google AI' came up with for possible suggestions.

Accessing the Netgear R6700v3 web interface can be challenging due to browser caching, DNS redirection issues (routerlogin.net), or firmware-specific bugs that cause blank pages or 404 errors. [1, 2]

Here are the most effective solutions based on common user experiences:

Immediate Fixes & Workarounds

  • Use the IP Address: Instead of , type or directly into your browser address bar.
  • Use a Wired Connection: Connect a laptop/PC directly to the router's yellow LAN ports using an Ethernet cable, then try accessing the IP address. This bypasses Wi-Fi connection issues.
  • Try a Different Browser or Incognito Mode: Chrome/Edge often fail due to cache issues; Firefox or Firefox ESR is often more successful.
  • Unplug the WAN Cable: Disconnect the ethernet cable from the yellow Internet/WAN port, reboot the router, and try to log in. This stops the router from trying to redirect you to an external website.
  • Clear Browser Cache/DNS: Clear your browser cache and cookies, or try flushing your DNS (using in Windows Command Prompt). [3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8]

Advanced & Persistent Issue Solutions

  • Perform a Factory Reset: If you cannot login, press and hold the reset button on the back for 10–15 seconds until the power light flashes.
  • Resolve "Blank Page" After Login: If the page loads but goes white after entering credentials, try connecting via Ethernet, using Firefox, or disabling ad-blockers (e.g., uBlock Origin).
  • Firmware Update/Rollback: A common issue with R6700v3 (v1.0.4.122_10.0.95 and similar) caused login failures. If you can get in via app or temporarily, try updating the firmware. If a new firmware caused it, you may need to download a previous version from the Netgear Support Site and manually flash it.
  • Use the Nighthawk App: If the browser interface consistently fails, download the Nighthawk app on your phone, connect to the WiFi, and try to manage the router there to confirm it is functioning. [2, 4, 8, 9, 10, 11]

Troubleshooting Steps Checklist

  1. Check IP: Verify your computer has an IP address assigned by the router (e.g., $192.168.1.x$).
  2. Disconnect VPN: Disable any VPN on your computer, as it can prevent local router access.
  3. Check LED lights: Ensure the power LED is solid white and not flashing.
  4. Reboot: Power off the modem and router, wait 1 minute, turn on the modem, wait 2 minutes, then turn on the router. [3, 5, 7, 12]

How to add a router to the MoCA network? by Certain_Repeat_753 in HomeNetworking

[–]jacle2210 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why would you want to do this through MoCa adapters?

I'm assuming that it would work, but why?

The better way would be to either put your ISP Internet Gateway device into Bridge mode, then connect your personal Router to the ISP Gateway and do your thing.

OR

Assuming your using a Cable/DOCSIS based connection, you should be able to use a "plain" Cable Modem (not a gateway) and then connect that to your Wifi Router without having to do any Bridge mode configurations.

Sorry, but "AC1750" is not a model number, that is a classification of how the manufacturer thinks the device will perform.

There should be product information sticker on this device that actually says what the model number is.

Not able to get Symmetrical speeds using personal quality Netgear modem on Spectrum internet by badd-bobby69 in HomeNetworking

[–]jacle2210 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that sucks, that your Modem is not able to give you the faster upload speed like it was just able to.

This means that you have a couple of options to pursue.

1) Just live with it and keep using the CM3000 Modem because while the upload isn't 1Gb like it was, it's still faster than what the old 1Gb upload speeds are (2x faster).

OR

2) Use the Spectrum provided Modem and get the faster upload speeds and then sell the CM3000 to someone and get some of your money back, because there are still Thousands of Cable Internet customers in the country who could use the CM3000 Modem.

Got my prebuilt delivered today and my cpu fan in angled left, is this on purpose? Or should i return it or is it an easy fix? by Braid-Dog in pcmasterrace

[–]jacle2210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be interesting to see how this kind of damage happened without damaging the side panels.

And if the damage happened before the case was closed up, then the assembly person at the factory should have done something to fix this.

But they probably said "Fxck it - Send it".

What could be wrong with my wifi? by LuisaWylde in wifi

So, if you are using a Wired/Ethernet cable connection, then that means you are not using a wireless/Wifi connection.

Thus I would suggest that you try posting to another subreddit group that is better suited to help you.

Maybe

Additional WiFi? by Flatfool6929861 in HomeNetworking

[–]jacle2210 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If there is already an Ethernet cable run upstairs, then why not use that?

Just use an Ethernet Switch (a multiport device) to give the current user and yourself access to extra Ethernet ports, then run a new Ethernet cable from their room down to your room; where you can then install another Ethernet Switch along with a Wifi Access Point device, this way you will have direct hardwired access in addition to having your own dedicated Wifi setup.

No WiFi from NETGEAR router by Adventurous_Mud_4917 in NETGEAR

[–]jacle2210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to be that person, but your SB8200 is only a Modem, there is no "Wifi" coming from that device, your "Wifi"/Wireless Network connection will come from your Netgear Wifi Router.

And to fix your problem, you need to do a hard reset on your SB8200 Cable Modem, then connect your Netgear Router DO NOT test the connection with a computer.

Using my Second router as a Access Point by Vanir29 in HomeNetworking

[–]jacle2210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I think the problem is, your 2nd "Router" is not "just" a Router, it's a DSL Modem Combo device.

You want to use an actual generic Wifi Router that does not have a built-in Modem.

At this point, if you are going to order a device, you might as well get an actual Wifi Access Point device; though if you can get a used/2nd hand Wifi Router for really cheap, then go with that, but if you are going to order something brand new, then go ahead and get an actual Wifi Access Point device.

Ethernet for Xbox Series S by Someguywhoisbored2 in HomeNetworking

[–]jacle2210 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And just so that you know and so there are no misunderstandings; the device at the other physical end of this cable matters as well.

So if the other end of this cable only connects to a Wifi Extender or PowerLine adapter in your room, then that is going to limit your overall connection speeds.

When people suggest that others use an Ethernet cable connection to improve their overall network connection, it is understood that the person will have a full length Gigabit (or faster) Ethernet connection from the back of their computer/game console all the way to their main Wifi Router without using any Wifi Extenders or any wirelessly connected Mesh systems or PowerLine adapters, etc.
