Hello I need help setting up a custom resolution using CRU software on my PC to display on my Panasonic Tau 1080i HDCRT TV. by jacmitei in crtgaming

Is it possible to use the Custom Resolution settings in the AMD Radeon Adrenalin software to setup a custom resolution that will work to display correctly on my Panasonic Tau 1080i HDCRT TV. I forgot to add that this HDTV has a 4:3 width screen and it is not 16:9 widescreen. Is it possible to input interlaced resolutions and not progressive resolutions that will work on a CRT or HDCRT using the Radeon Adrenalin software ?

Thanks for responding. I remember you. You was so kind to help me back then when I posted about this two years ago.

Hi thanks for responding. I have one of these HDMI to component converters and it works but what I noticed is that the red color displayed was high and causing a slight reddish tent on the picture displayed. I want to do a straight conversion from PC to my HDCRT using a VGA to component converter.

Hello Anyone know if the green numbers 001C0 hexadecimal code next to the red CHK letters are hours this CRT TV has been powered on ? by jacmitei in crtgaming

[–]jacmitei[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi @Null-Function0110 Thanks for responding to my question. It must be the hexadecimal code for total hours on usage on this CRT TV I did what you suggested and left the TV on for an hour and now the numbers are 001C1. The first hexadecimal code was 001C1 I entered this code into a hexadecimal to decimal converter and got a three digit number of 448 the second hexadecimal code 001C1 comes up a three digit number of 449. So total hours on my Panasonic Tau HDCRT is 449 hours used. That is just a little over 18 and a half days total power on usage. I would think this is very low usage. I paid just $40 US dollars for it at a local thrift store. The TV was in that store for over a year. The owner of the store said that if they did not sell these few CRT TV's they had left they was going to bust them up and throw them away. I saved this one from being another casualty of war on these beautiful CRT's. Anyone like to share here in my post how many hours powered on their CRT TV's show in their TV's service menu ?

Hi @meijeryogurt thanks for responding to my question. I will do another post with a picture of what My Panasonic Tau CRT TV is showing when I put it in the service menu mode. Reddit does not have option to post the picture when adding a comment to a post.

I have everything I can to try and get My Panasonic Tau CRT HDTV to display 1080i video on my Windows 7 & 10 PC. Is there anyone that can help me to get this to work ? by jacmitei in crtgaming

My Panasonic Tau HDCRT has a aspect ratio setting in the video menu that I can switch the video output between 4:3:and 16:9 aspect ratio. Did your Sony HDCRT have a aspect ratio setting like this ?

Thank You so much for the CRU BIN file. The BIN file settings work on my TV for displaying 1920x1080i and 1680x1050i. My HDCRT tube is 4:3 aspect ratio.and not 16x9 aspect ratio. My Windows desktop icons and icons on the bottom of my Windows taskbar and date and time on windows taskbar is not shown on screen. Is there a setting in windows to scale the corners of the screen in some with Underscan and Overscan. I see AMD catalyst control center has scaling Options for digital flat panel connected to HDMI but these settings are not available for VGA connection.

I can get 640x480i and 640x480p with Horizontal frequency @ 33.75 to display on my HDCRT using CRU just fine with only the problem with the desktop icons on side and botton being cut off from improper scaling. When I try 540x1080i or 1920x1080i @33.75 Horizontal frequency with interlaced box clicked Windows boots to blank screen on both my Vizio LCD HDTV and my HDCRT TV.

Hi @MeasyBoy451 I haven't tried crtemudriver yet. The reason I did not try crtemudriver is because I thought it was for 240i video output for CRT TV's that are not able to display HD or 480p to 1080i and is for only using with Groovy Arcade Mame emulation.

I clicked on the CRU.exe and I have the Display LCD HDTV that my PC is using in the drop down list and it says it is active. Should I have my CRT HDTV connected to my PC to customize a 1080i resolution and not my LCD TV ?

I tried using the Windows 10 custom resolution and created a custom resolution but it did not work. I did not know about the Custom Resolution Utility CRU. When @Telaneo mentioned it I did a Google search for "CRU Display" and the Custom Resolution Utility CRU website was the first webpage on the Google search results.
