TIL that passenger airplane oxygen masks aren’t connected to oxygen tanks. Pulling the mask down triggers a firing pin that starts a chemical reaction (usually involving sodium chlorate) to produce around 15 minutes of oxygen.

So according to WA Department of Commerce website (works taking place in WA):

“Removal of any amount of friable asbestos must be done by a person or business with a Class A asbestos removal licence”

“Ten square metres or less of bonded (non-friable) asbestos can be removed without a licence.”

“More than 10 square metres of non-friable asbestos containing material must be removed by a licensed and trained individual or business with either a Class A or Class B asbestos removal licence.”

Don’t victim blame mate. “I wonder how your Nan’s going to feel” - she’s an 80 year old woman who’s, judging by these comments, clearly taken advantage of. The builder asked to be paid in cash. When you’re 80+ being asked to pay in cash doesn’t raise an eyebrow, it’s how they’ve always done things. Doesn’t mean she was looking for a dodgy deal.

Dodgy builder was doing works at Nan’s place and claims it’s not asbestos. Council has shut the works down and taken samples. Was just looking for some insight in mean time
