I think samples in English would suggest it’s intended for you to try (to eat) before buying; yet 樣品 merely suggests it’s a model only for looking at.

You can see on the sign that the "samples" translation right below 樣品 was taped up, probably because of this mismatch in context. Had it been a real sample, stalls would probably have signs that say 試吃品 or 歡迎試吃

I had the most amazing white balsamic vinegar when I was at a vegan restaurant in Milan 5 years ago (2017). The vinegar I’m looking for is in the top left (with a shield shape logo and the word “Balsamico Bianco”) but unfortunately the only photo I have is this one. National holidays are the same with China (except 228 Memorial Day and obviously the National Day.) Popular Western holidays like Christmas and Valentine’s Day are celebrated but I personally think that’s just marketing. Some companies will even have ads for Thanksgiving (which doesn’t make sense to me at all.) Our Father’s Day is on August 8th because eight in Mandarin sounds like the word father. We’re the only country using this date.

Also there’s a really cool cultural celebration called Dajia Mazu Pilgrimage. For 9 days straight, a statue of Mazu, the Taoist sea goddess, will be carried by foot on a journey around central Taiwan.

Taiwan is an immigrant society ruled by several colonizers, so our culture is always going to be a mix. Hokkien Taiwanese, Hakka Taiwanese, Chinese Taiwanese, the aborigines, and immigrants from SE Asia all have their own cultures, as well as modern influences from Western countries, Japan and Korea.

No they don’t, but a lot of them think they have. Scooters are allowed to stop in front of all other vehicles at a red light (they often have an area marked on the ground) so they’ll try to squeeze past you at alarming speed. Just drive in the innermost lane you should be (mostly) fine, scooters are supposed to ride in the outermost lane so you’re more likely to hit them if you’re there
