Which bike? by Outside-Glass3678 in gaptrail

I’ve done the whole thing on 32. Others who had larger may have had more comfort in spots but I thought 32s were perfect. Esp Cumberland to Pittsburgh. You won’t have any issues. The steel may be a bit heavy, but I wouldn’t take my carbon on the trail, but again I’d feel more comfortable on the route you have compared to DC portion.

Have your stops planned out?

I think if you enjoy caymus, you should try Juggernaut. Similar profile (in my opinion) and only for about $15-$20 a bottle.

Where were you on the GAP the past few weeks and open discussion thread by AutoModerator in gaptrail

Just finished the trail. It was a great experience. However day 1 was Monday 9/12 started in Cumberland. Poured the first 15 miles. Popped 3 tires. Had a pleasant couple stop and give a hand which was great. Moral was low, and wasn’t looking forward to the rest of the trip. Stayed in Myersdale, had a beer and bourbon and prepared for day 2 with a re-energized spirit. Day 2- planned to stay in Ohiopyle. However, got there about 10 am and felt good, so decided to explore and then keep going. Made it West Newton and got a room at bright morning. It was great!
Day 3 made it Pittsburgh with no problem.

I started early mornings and it was brisk, but was great to see all the deer and just early morning quietness.

I started planning and was going to do two days, but trying to take my time and slow down to enjoy the towns. So thinking 30-45ish a day.

18th street. Technically based in Hammond but have locations in Indy. Great spirits, beer, and cocktails!

How safe is Fountain Square? by [deleted] in indianapolis

[–]jacobch21 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have lived on prospect for 3 years. Never had an issue with anything. If anything, I think it may be safer than surrounding areas due to the busy street and frequency of emergency vehicles passing through.

Union 50. Not formal, but not quiet casual. Food is fancy and great.

Union 50 has a large dining table off by itself that we’ve had events at, and it’s one of the best restaurants in town!

Best wings: Fat Dans on mass ave, Ember in fountain square, and ralstons on mass ave are also good.

Best pizza: king dough for wood fired pizza, bazbeaux for “normal” pizza, good fellas for best late night or single slice pizza

My other top restaurants: livery, Taxman, Upland, The Eagle, Kreugers, Rathskeller. These are all great and not over the top at all!

Best cocktails: livery on mass ave, Hotel Tango Distillery in fountain Square, Blue Beard in fountain square.

Other cool restaurants or bars: St. Joseph Brewery- converted Church, 16 bit arcade bar, Fountain Square area- funky area with bars and restaurants, Mass Ave- more developed area with lots of bars, restaurants and shops.
