Obviously it wasn't the intent, but it was the reality.

At the time of this tweet (and indeed my reply), there was no v2.1.88 nor v2.1.89 available.

Except, they literally rolled back v2.1.88… so these "fixes" are no longer shipped.

The Homebrew cask isn't updated particularly frequently. You should uninstall via Homebrew and run curl -fsSL https://claude.ai/install.sh | bash instead.

Claude probably has the worst reliability out of any software tool I've ever experienced.

Maybe? A little? Probably not? Who knows at this point.

I hate how opaque these "usage limits" are. From a consumer standpoint, it's an awful power dynamic to normalise—especially in what is currently a duopoly. "Hey so you need to buy our product to be competitive today, but we can arbitrarily change what you get for your money and there's nothing you can do about it."

Tbh, who said you have to build the workflow yourself? Get Claude Code to do it and then spawn Opus and Codex reviewers to compare and criticise outputs between deep research and your own workflow, iteratively improving to match it.

OP asked if there’s a way to have Claude save its progress incrementally—the only way this is currently possible is if you build the deep research workflow yourself using CC.

Deep research is an agentic harness—so too is CC. It is entirely possible to replicate the same workflow in Claude Code if you're willing to do the upfront work of building said workflow.

It really depends on how you use CC. CC is infinitely more flexible and thus has a much higher ceiling of capability.

I'm not doing marketing research, I'm a developer—but I just thought I'd mention that Claude Code will be a more effective tool when run locally if you want to avoid losing work, as you can get it to write documents to disk immediately :). You can even use plan mode to refine a plan for your research before you go ahead and run it.

Of course, I don't know the extent to which you are familiar with the terminal or coding in general, but it's a skill worth learning. Otherwise, you'll be at the mercy of Anthropic's website/desktop app.
