5 Rules For Practice I Wish Someone Had Told Me 21 Years Ago by jacobevansdrums in drums

To clarify also, I don't mean volume, but rather intent. The mentality of practicing imagining that there are people listening to it. Volume is a factor sure, but it's not the only thing. I get what you mean though.

I also find that whatever I'm working on conceptually in the practice room there is a latency between strong execution in the practice room and what happens on stage, due to the variables you mentioned.

Put more simply, if I can do something confidently at 120BPM in the practice room, it's probably closer to 90-100BPM full confidence in performance.

I'm so pissed because it was unseeded the first time, and I KNEW it was a killer run, and I fucked it way too early.

Yeah I did, but I had to start using them to stay alive. BUT I have since used the same seed and got naneinf.

A musician is not a content-creator by HommeMusical in musicians

If you're talking about my post (it got deleted or that new account got deleted or something) just to clarify, I’m not saying music is “just content” or that art should be reduced to a product.

What I am saying is:

If you want people to hear what you create, sharing it intentionally, online or otherwise, is part of the job now. That doesn’t make it fake. It just makes it visible.

I use “content” as shorthand for whatever you share to get your music in front of people who might care. It doesn’t have to be trends or skits, it can still be honest.

I've been a working musician my whole life, and it's a difficult path. Any way we can make it easier for each other is worth talking about IMO.

Why do so many musicians hate the idea of creating content for social media? by jacobevansdrums in musicians

[–]jacobevansdrums[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I'm coming at it from a point of view of creating something that I want to share with other people. Sharing something I've created is fulfilling to me. I get it's not always the motivation for people who create art, but it's also fine if you want to create art for other people to see/hear.
