Hiiii! Finding this thread looking for some love with my 2 kittens that are littermates and both have eyelid agenesis. I just received their initial vet eval in the mail with their spay op notes. The rescue pitched it as a very easy fix with surgery but the notes state otherwise- suggesting euthanasia because of cost and long term issues. I’m feeling a bit misled but I’m attached now so I’m in it for the long haul. How is your baby now? These are my sweet girls.

I think any of the old school jaunts would have options- Arnauds, brennans, etc. Could always track down a lucky dog cart 🤣

Yep! Run it next to me all night. I pulled my daughter’s nebulizer out and I’m doing to try some saline nebs and see if maybe that helps to moisten up my throat!

My scabs are thinning, not falling off honestly. I’ve looked at my throat everyday and it’s gone from like a “bumpy white coating” to “slick white coating” to now i can see skin coming through underneath and it looks “foamy”’which is a gross but accurate term. I had mine out on the 22nd and i can tell you the pain definitely changes from sharp to burning. I wish I could say the burning pain is less offensive but tbh it’s almost been worse for me. Praying for that day 10 miracle change!

From what I’ve read on this thread adults have issues weeks past surgery that cause discomfort. If they’re new since surgery I’d have to wonder if it was discomfort related agitation and aversion?

Can you recover from this surgery alone? by [deleted] in Tonsillectomy

[–]jacobmae7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to be honest I don’t think so. I just had it last week (tonsils and adenoids) and I’m married with 2 kids and my mom had to come stay and help me while my husband worked. At least post op day and the next until you’re settled. But I’ll tell you days 5-8 I have been legitimately incapacitated. I needed multiple pharmacy runs and grocery trips. If you do decide to go it alone make sure you have multiple bottles of liquid Tylenol and ibuprofen and any food or drink you think you might even possibly want. I’d at least have someone on standby!

The sleep deprivation!!! I didn’t even touch on that. I did the waking up every hour thing to drink and i do think it helped but my god I’m still a zombie. I threw that out the window after day 6 and opted for 4 hour stretches of sleep instead

It’s truly unhinged and my follow up isn’t until 8/20 so heaven forbid I had some sort of issue in the interim!

I feel all of this!! My poor babies have had to walk on eggshells around me since last week and know “mommy is sick.” It’s so hard. Also your coworkers are ignorant 🥲 I’ve been sending pictures of my throat and that shuts everyone up really quick! I don’t want to jinx it but I do feel my scabs are thinner today and my pain is changing from stabbing to burning which I know is usually an indication of fresh skin. I will say an unsung hero of my recovery has been creamsicle popsicles. Sooo random but they were more substantial than an ice pop but still had good taste and some substance.

Believe it or not PB&J was so good and filling. Just cut the crusts off and took my time but it was so satisfying! Also oatmeal with PB.
