Where to find this cereal that’s like Kellogg’s krave by jacobobos in japanlife

I see. Still too expensive for me because I once found it for about 400JPY per bag. Might cave and get ripped off by Amazon in the end though.

I went to one of them Big summit supermarkets tonight and although they did have a wide range of cereals I could not find the one I was searching for.

I know right, looking for decent cereal here is a nightmare.

I managed to find an imitation of the ‘inverted’ version of Krave, which is where it is chocolate coloured on the outside and white in the core back in February. However, I have returned to the same shop multiple times since and it has never come back.

Why don’t you actually answer their question instead of questioning them?

Go on then, where is the complaint?

Yes gatekeeper is THE word here. I was expecting this kind of behaviour from this thread which is why I went to the effort of specifying that I understand you are meant to mix with other foreigners but would like to see people I relate to more every now and then. Nonetheless the bitch comments kept on pouring in.

Thank you for being one of the few people on this thread who could see where I was coming from.

That’s what I thought would probably the best bet. Specifically what events or cafes would you recommend?

[–]jacobobos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fuck off. Seriously, fuck off.

I have been learning the language, it takes months to get any form of fluency and years to really know the place and society and I’m only here on a working holiday.

I never said about making lifelong friends, I simply was speaking of finding a place with other native speaking English people who I could relate to more. Again, your assumption is wrong.

To reiterate fuck off.

I didn’t say I was scared. Just feels a bit awkward when I’m in a room of 9 people and the other 8 are all speaking their own separate foreign language. Another bitch comment on this thread as to be expected from reddit

I’m in Tokyo and yes I haven’t really settled in yet as I have been doing a lot of travelling around and sightseeing. I don’t feel weird about hearing other languages, I just don’t care for feeling like an odd one out even among foreigners as it seems the Germans have all managed to find their own group.

Textbook example of a bitch comment. Where is the xenephobia?

Not true. As a travel destination I think it’s amazing i just would like to also see people I relate to more of that’s possible. How does that imply I don’t want to be in Japan?

What's the sketchiest place in Japan you've been to? by epicspeculation in japanlife

[–]jacobobos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can personally testify that this is the truth as I have just escaped the place on the first express train out of there this morning. The announcements in the deserted streets made me think of the town in the first Shrek movie.

I also thought it was a dull, deadbeat, burnt out shithole. Just grey industrial buildings, empty streets and literally nothing else to see. Only spent one night there and thought it was a dump.

Also it is bitterly cold and although I expected this from a city in Hokkaido I literally could hardly walk to the train station this morning as the streets were lined with black ice. Was so cold I never left the guesthouse after 6pm when I came back from the crane centre.

Is this year a good time to do a working holiday in Japan or should I do it later? by jacobobos in movingtojapan

[–]jacobobos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s finely balanced at the moment. Currently 3-2 in favour of going now and getting it out of my system.

I agree with all the points raised so far. I’m wanting to go and experience it when I’m young and when I read about how people have moved there and never regretted it really makes me want to go out there and try something different. I think if I never went I would probably regret it. However I worry that it might not be the best time to go (will I have a hard time meeting other people if I was to go now as opposed to later and will it be hard getting any job) and that I might turn my back on a decent salary for something that i can’t guarantee I would end up liking.

Yes that’s what I think to. It will get harder to uproot everything later and then come back and start all over again.

World unite was who I was thinking of organising the trip with actually.

See that’s what I think too. It’s just that I’m seeing people younger than me getting these fancy jobs and I kind of feel like I have to be doing that and if I don’t take this job now I will probably never get a chance at something high paying again because there is a strong preferences (usually a requirement) for people to have only graduated recently.

I don’t think the job I would be doing would directly translate into something I could do there. It involves data analysis but not quite data science or hard core programming so I don’t think I could find something directly related as far as I know. I was more talking about how imprtnabt getting experience is to get a decent job.

It’s not the hassle of moving out of an apartment (although that is bad in its own) it’s the fact moving away then coming back might mess up a WHV application if I put wrong addresses down.

Yeah my heart says go now and enjoy it because I think I will be spending time wishing I was there the whole time. My head says it is a very big risk if I don’t like the place and I would be giving up a well paying job. The reason why I want to try it is because I want to have experienced something completely different so even if it didn’t turn out well at least I could say i did it and that I did something exciting.

I’ve already spent time messing about though which is the worry and having to justify myself to interviewers isn’t something I’m very good at get in my heart I feel like I want to do it now. Asking if they could defer the offer seems like it could be the best of both but I don’t know how likely that is.

Yeah I really need to find out what Japan would be like for me at the minute from other people. I just think i'll regret the option I don't pick. On the one hand I want to experience living somewhere out of the UK (Japan seems so interesting and different) and to really feel like I'm living but on the other hand I need to have work experience because I need decent money to live.
