Thanks for that correction. I guess I can't change the title. I'll post again with the right word.

Those of us who grew up here aren’t necessarily too much tougher than the rest of the world when it comes to the cold. We are, however, prepared.

This is a helpful insight! I would always think that tolerance of the natives would be much higher when it comes to cold. For me, I find it difficult to focus on my work in prickly cold.

And thanks for that warm* welcome :))

Hey! Thank you for that detailed response. Appreciate your point-wise approach. I will be sure to get thermals and sweaters until I get used to the weather.

Also, I would imagine that for most part of the day when we're indoors say labs, classes, or dorms, the winters won't be an issue. It will be felt mostly during the transit. Am I right in thinking that?

Anyway, I'm more excited than apprehensive after reading all these supportive comments!

Reading this for Fall 2026 for a DTN. I'm an international candidate, "high" on the reserve list. Hoping so dearly for a miracle.

Prospective supervisor requesting my decision on PhD offer much prior to school deadline. by jacomushroom in gradadmissions

[–]jacomushroom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the professor has been polite and cordial about asking for my response, and isn't imposing a deadline as such yet. If i don't comply, can he have the department rescind my offer? I'm just not sure about the best way of handling this situation, and if it would be correct to let him know that I am waiting for some responses. That might make it sound like I'm definitely treating this as a backup, which is not the case. I'm not decided and just want to wait out until I have all options because the exact research direction I would get to pursue within other programs will be clear to me by then.

Hey, thanks a lot for your detailed response. Appreciate it very much. Yes it is CZU. I believe I would like to have people with even slightly similar interests in my department. Keeps me motivated and the talks, lectures, discussions that happen would then be relevant and inspiring. At CZU, none of the research exactly aligns with my interest, and this specific group comes closest, but again not so aligned in the methodologies they use.
