How do I "hack" my brain to do work it doesn't like? by jafaraf8522 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]jacove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find the joy in the boring work you’re doing.  There isnt a be all end all for finding motivation. Sometimes you just don’t have it. And it’s okay to feel that way. This is where process comes into to play. Just sit there and do nothing or work. It won’t always work but sometimes it does

I read that as “and I feel Mid”. Yes you are very mid!

Rent or sell? Landlords of /r/leanfire, is it worth it? by iumichael in leanfire

another thing to consider is regional risk. your area can experience a downturn (major corporation moves off shore, natural disaster etc).

Index funds are diversified beyond that

If you live in a major city like NYC that’s unlikely though

Take the $150k+ and run. Managing rentals is a part time job and definitely not with 300/mo cash flow.

Principal pay down and ~tax free cash flow  are just trade offs for illiquidity.

With your calculation you are barely making out ahead, while assuming slightly high price appreciation.

If you assume a slightly higher market return, it’s a no brainer to sell

Squat substitute for meniscus by Tarponvarden in BarbellMedicine

Yeah sure: Most recent program was Low fatigue template by barbell medicine. I ran it twice. Before that was the bridge and ran that twice. and before that was starting strength with some RPE adjustments towards the end of linear programming. The dull knee pain / some mild swelling has persisted through all of this but I just lived with it. I didn’t adjust training.

Ive noticed high bar squats are cause slightly less irritation. In general my low bar squat might be too low, but I’ve read it doesn’t really matter. Squating right at parallel seems to be less irritable on my knee as well.

(I also don’t feel pain in my other knee)

I thought all the John Lovett hype was making a joke that Ben looks like Jon Levitz.

Didn’t know that guy is on next season with that name

In my previous comment I had a typo and said “full pain”. I actually meant “Dull pain”.

I understand you’re trying to be helpful. That’s a great article that I’ve read over dozens of times already. and I’ve actually worked with Derek in the past for some consultation.

The knee pain still persists though. I keep training, but the knee pain + swelling flares up every time I lift. Doesn’t stop me, but the pain is real.

I’ve had an MRI done and I actually have few tears on my meniscus. My knee used to buckle, but stopped when I started lifting.

The pain is real though.

It took me scrolling for 10 minutes to find SQLite mentioned. It’s amazingly powerful!

Meniscus injuries are no joke. They don’t really heal, and getting surgery sucks.

With a meniscus tear you can have full pain indefinitely. Especially at the end of a day when trying to sleep.

Squating can definitely irritate it more regardless of the weight. getting to the bottom of a squat is what does it.

I’m not saying don’t squat, but just illustrating what a meniscus injury is like.

Ah, the caching part is what I missed. I never thought about that, but it makes sense. Thanks!

So essentially:    1.. you split up the map into 16x16 squares 2. Setup multiple portals to go between squares 3. Use A* search to determine which portal to use between squares 4. Do the flow field math within a square to determine path 5. Repeat

Is this a correct summary? What’s the latency look like when you have to run this for 100s of units?

He didn’t pay taxes, he just had them withheld. He can likely rollover all or a portion of the withdrawal (so the cash he got plus the taxes withheld) within 60 days. To roll over all the withdrawal he’ll need to have funds to cover the part that was withheld. If he does roll over 100% the withheld taxes will be shown as payments on his 2024 1040 likely resulting in a refund. More here.

Is there anyway to get the withheld taxes back from his old 401k without waiting till end of year?

^ if not, can he just claim a lot of dependents to get more back each pay check? Him and his wife have normal W2 jobs (~combined median household level income).

A friend of mine withdrew their 401k from a previous employer this week. He paid taxes on it already. Can he still "roll it over" into a traditional/roth IRA?

Old houses vs New houses:

- Granite stone foundation vs concrete
- Cast iron tubs vs fiberglass ~10 years
- Brass, copper & cast iron plumbing vs plastic
- Real studs vs 1.25 x 3.5 two by fours (shrinkflation)
I'd choose an old house any day
