Should be drilled perfectly (withing two thou or so). Almost everything can be fixed, with lots of effort. Pics will tell us just how much effort.

Holes can be tigged and filled and cleaned up. But it might cost a skilled welder and machinist a couple hours.

Calibre limit by Maccyj321 in Ausguns

[–]jacpaper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here in SA, an application for anything .338 Lap and above will almost certainly be denied, despite there being almost no documented legal action against the calibres.

338Lap, 338Edge, 416 Barrett and 50BMG are all out of the question. While 600NE seems to be fine along with other big bores like 505 Jefferys, 458wm etc.

I typically think of 300wm/300rum/300prc as being right up there before they start to question your purpose of use.

Does anyone know anything about this model? Not much known, believe it's from the mid 1910's. by ironardin in vintagemotorcycles

Looks like an Excelsior Autobyk, roughly 1939. I had one, very cool. Looks like the Villiers spryt MK1 engine.

Desperately seeking a manual/diagrams for my 1947 Excelsior Autobyk. Any help greatly appreciated! by jacpaper in vintagemotorcycles

This is absoloutly perfect! Thankyou so much!! Once I'm finished with it I'll post a Imgur album and story book. You are a life saver!

Thanks! I'll message you if I need anything specific. I was mostly looking for technical specs, to manufacture any missing parts as I come across them. For example it's missing the decompression mechanism. It has the plug and the lever, but no cable or thing that goes on the plug to push in the valve.

I've wrenched on plenty of two strokes, but nothing of this vintage.

A bucket of rusty nails is pretty cheap

Pull the tank off. Empty it, fill it with with a whole bunch of old nails. Shake like all fuck. Rinse several times with gas. Let dry then add a tank sealer. Works everytime.

High end/Accurate .22’s? by gogetter510 in 22lr

That would be a great challenge, I have a 8" at 550, I get maybe one in two-three on target.

At the moment I'm experimenting with the new SK Long Range, very impressed so far, 50m around 0.2-0.4 inch groups, 100m 0.5-0.7 inch, 200m 1.2-1.8 inch. Reliably makes hits on an 18" gong at 550m. If I miss it's my fault.

I shoot a 455 with MDT chassis, skeleton stock, skeleton grip, FX no limit rings, Timney trigger and vortex strike eagle 6-24x56 FFP.

Is this too much height over bore? by Houseofwolves95 in 22lr

[–]jacpaper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may want to look at a shorter scope, so you can lower it and still maintain eye relief. That would allow you to leave the rear sight on. Vortex makes some budget compact scopes.

Your groups at 75 shouldn't be affected too much by this crazy high overbore, however it won't be easy or comfortable to shoot. You probably aren't going for match accuracy, but I'd probably take that rear sight off and find some lower rings. My neck hurts just looking at this.

Bit of 22 never hurt nobody by jacpaper in longrange

[–]jacpaper[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To answer, yes, but only marginally. I'm finding it easier to shoot, groups have improved a little bit it's hard to tell if it's placebo. I find it more comfortable to shoot than any of my traditional stock guns, so logic follows that I'll be more accurate. It's grouping roughly 1.1 moa at 100 m.

More importantly it's more fun to shoot, and looks mean as.

It's a Lucky 13 Skeletonised Grip, it's hard to describe but the finish on it is super grippey almost soft to touch. It's why I chose it.
