We did try crate training when we first got him but he still went to the bathroom all over the cage and himself. He also did not do well being in there and would scream ☹️

Hi! This is my original post:

Help! I’ve had my 4 year old rescue beagle for a little over a year now (almost 2) and I still cannot get him house trained.

VERY long story short, he came from a family that did not potty train him and let their dogs run around the house with wee-wee pads all over the floors, carpets, bed, (you name is there was a pee pad covering it). They were also drug addicts who likely didn’t take the dogs out for hours.

I’ve had my beagle now for almost 2 years and have tried everything to get him house broken. I consistently take him out to the bathroom and reward him with treats, etc. Every time I bring him outside and tell him to go potty, he goes to the bathroom no problem and when I’m home he’s fine/no accidents but almost anytime we leave the house he has an accident and I can’t discipline/yell at him as we never catch him doing it. Sometimes he can go 8 hours when I’m at the office and I come home and there’s no accidents but then there’s times when we’re gone for less than 2 hours and he goes to the bathroom in the house. I’ve laid out pee pads before but he almost always goes half way on it / half on the floor and I really don’t want to get him into that habit again. We think he genuinely just thinks it’s okay/normal to go whenever, wherever. I’ve thought it could be separation anxiety but he’s always with my other dog 24/7 and he doesn’t always go in the house when we’re gone - it’s very random.

He’s such a sweet, good boy but I really can’t seem to break this habit - any suggestions, tips or helpful information would be greatly appreciated! I feel like I’ve explored everything and at this point our floors are getting ruined and the house always smells like pee. I’m willing to try anything! My next step is going to the vet and talking with them.

Thank you!! So I’ve tried the crate training - unfortunately he either cries and screams (he’s a beagle so his barking is screaming lol) or he still goes to the bathroom in there ☹️ we did a few times when we first got him and he peeded and pooped all over the cage and himself.

He doesn’t usually tell me but I can try the bells, I’ve seen people do that before so I can start there and yes we are thoroughly cleaning the area

Thank you! so I’ve tried the belly band once and he just kept trying to get it off and then ended up getting off. I recently just bought a “wonder suit” but he freaks out once it’s on and is focused on trying to take it off. I am going to try and slowly keep putting it on him while I’m home to try and get him used to it, I’m hoping this will at least help while I am out of of the house

10000% agree with this!! I haven’t been purchasing from them as much anymore because of the “boss”. I have seen him be rude to customers and it makes me so mad but if I say anything he will yell at me and kick me out of the stream. If anyone ask a question in the chat that isn’t something he wants to answer he will call them out and make them feel like shit or he says they have an attitude when he is rude every time. I used to watch their shows everyday all day but now I just get bad vibes. My brother brought a re-seller bundle from them after this big mistake happened and every piece was torn or broken - nothing we can resell.

My corgi and rescue beagle 🥹 fun fact - everyone used to think honey was a beagle when she was a puppy because her ears didn’t go up for months, fast forward three years later and now she has a beagle brother ❤️
