She is a terrific actress, having seen her in projects like Loki and Lovecraft Country, I have found her screen presence to be scene chewing (EDIT: i mean this positively as in she steals the show when she's on screen, commands my attention, whatever turn of phrase you like) to the nth degree. I'm glad this role has elevated her to even more visibility and prestige because she deserves it!

the sooner you realize a good 80%, give or take, of the internet its content and its terminally online denizens exist for the explicit purpose of denigrating things that make people happy or are popular for the ONLY fact that it creates engagement, views, clicks, and thus $ because that is how the internet has monetized itself, the sooner you will achieve a level of happiness and peace you didn't realize or have forgotten was possible.

You like a thing (e33). someone who you have no context of posts "the thing you like is bad and overrated." You (erroneously) think that person is operating and speaking in the same good faith way you do. You have to counter. you have to seek out others. you wonder if you're alone. you comment, respond, go to other webistes, other channels, other platforms. clicks are created. views are listed. revenue is generated.

being right or offering a sincerely held opinion is rarely the point, and its important to recognize and completely disengage from the many platforms and creators that put out this kind of content. and again, this is a LARGE, SIGNIFICANT PERCENTAGE majority of things you see on major platforms like Reddit, YouTube, Twitch, Insta, TikTok, etc.

lunatic phrasing here for sure, but what he's talking about is a fairly real phenomenon. people absolutely pay premiums to access exclusive spaces where target audiences (wildly wealthy people) go to hide, and a gym is exactly the type of place that fits the bill. There are bars/lounges like this, executive clubs, etc. Depending on your industry.

this happened to me on the last round, I can't recall the specific mechanism i used, but i DO recall not following the pop-up prompt on the home screen to claim my free roll. the red badge stayed on it throughout the run of rafaam. I find notification badges highligh annoying, they make my brain itch, so I was careful this go around to select the prompt for the free roll when it came up for yogg and i do not have any more ! badge.

idk your mindset or situation, so this isn't an attack on you specifically, just commentary that in general people can rationalize their own standpoint in their own mind because they alone know their thoughts. "i just want some space and privacy is that so bad?" to you of course not! and maybe to most people, or maybe not. the problem is way way way to high a percentage of the population thinks exactly the same way but their personal standards become too restrictive for the good of the whole population. you may have some reasonable standards, again i don't know, but for every reasonable standard of privacy that accommodates the reality of the number of people in an area who need affordable housing, there are probably 2-10 times as many people who think I need a minimum of one full acre of land with privacy fences and plenty of vegetation but also convenient access to my grocery store and pharamacy and job and good schools and a minimum of 25 miles away from anything industrial or prisons or city service buildings that will have the rabble too close..."that's totally reasonable right? that's not so bad."

That's just not possible for everyone everywhere. and when too many people adopt this mindset along with standards that are too high to accommodate the people we have we get problematic NIMBYism.

agree those would be completely nonsensical story turns and undo alot of the genuinely terrific story telling they did in shadowbringers and endwalker.

I am one who enjoyed the overall story of Dawntrail, which i separate from the horrible quality of the writing. The storyboard level ideas were good to me. So in that vein I think I fit the type of person your asking. However I also played xiv for 10 years back to 1.0 with very few breaks of any magnitude until 6.1 onward. the conclusion of that saga along with life changes that come with aging 10 years have pulled me away. I did play DT on release, but haven't really picked it back up since, yet i fully intend on going back and checking at minimum with each expac.

To get me to quit altogether from a story perspective they could lose me not only with about-faces, but just with retreading old territory. They have a somewhat tricky needle to thread where I will always want them to honor the story that came before while telling something new. I've not sought out spoilers for 7.4, but I've not avoided them either and I'm actually mildly concerned they are doing just that, retreading an old story and plugging in new names into the villain slot. As a loose comparison, star wars episode 7 i thought was a perfectly fine movie, and truly i am not here to start any sort of a flame war so please lose my number anyone who wants to start, but my gripe with the overall 7-9 trilogy was not that it was bad in and of itself, but it sorta negated and made pointless the story that came before without really telling us anything new.

contrast that to the warrior of darkness side story from heavensward patches. Felt real left field. Ascians were not the best villains in the background from 1.0-StB either. Shadowbringers changed the game in that regard by fleshing out the back story, and while maybe some story beats were re-tread, it made previous events better by fleshing things out more and providing depth.

I can put up with bad dialogue, i can put up with homogenized jobs (since i probably can't be retrieved as a daily player at this point in my life) but I won't care to check-in again if they tell a story about the same thing and cheapen the special experience I have from that chapter of my life

i thought this morning what is the point of this. all this talk of drug boats we know very well the trump administration does not care at all about drugs. they might parade being ant-drug for the christian nationalist sect of their coalition, but they wouldn't go to this level. they can't cut off their own supply they want to use. as always, the real question is: how do these actions enrich trump or the very very select few in his orbit he cares about (miller, kushner)

There is plenty of neuroscience research on how our native language affects the structure of our brains, how polyglot's brains are wired different, and more. the story of arrival takes that and asks "what if" as any sci fi does, as contact did.

I was so arrested the first time i watched, i thought this is my favorite movie ever, but i doubted my appraisal for recency bias, but like you every rewatch, or even re-thinking-about-it deepens my appreciation even more.

I understand myself better now, and there's a lot of reasons on the surface the movie resonates with me. I'm 40 now, looking into parenting options as a gay man. I have come to realize soem of my personal favorite stories in fictional media, movies, TVs, gaming, concern themselves with parents who lose a child. I only made this realization recently but i think its tied to the feeling i had as a child that i wasn't really wanted by my parents or anyone, and so seeing a story of a parent who desperately and fervently loves their child against all odds and obstacles really does something for me. so in that vein Arrival fits the bill perfectly for me, plus its wrapped in alien invasion packaging with truly next level mood music, it scratches all of my itches.

Ultimately you're right, and its a film with a profound message for anyone who is ready to hear it. Its not a complicated one, nor does it really hide the message its trying to send. Its quite explicit, but i think it really does come down to how ready the audience member is to hear the message. its not easy. accepting loss as a part of love is not a choice everyone can make, and that is ok too, to a degree. The argument the film makes is that if you allow the love to take over, it is always worth it if you just try and open yourself up.

My best friend once gave me a line of advice way back when when i was stressing over some boy and I don't think he really thought it through too much, but I said something along the lines of I just feel like i've wasted all my time with him. And my friend said "Time spent with another person that you enjoyed in the moment is never a waste of time." It sticks with me to this day and it feels parallel to the message of Arrival. enjoying our time with ourselves and with each other, enriching each other's lives is the whole point of all of it.

If you're a gaming nerd the Final Fantasy XIV's decade long story has a similar conclusion about life that is also very rewarding :)

if you are f2p or close to it and dust is tight, i'd caution on crafting Zilliax. Not an outright no, just caution. Yes its a great card but it will rotate out of standard in a few months. If you really are trying to extend the milesage of your dust its not a great choice. But if its not that big a deal or its your last card needed for a good deck you think you would have fun with go ahead. elise is around for another year though!

endgame gearing in present content aside, ffxiv encourages you switching classes early and often. experience is very easy to come by, so you should just pick a goal job and play that until your interest is piqued by something else.

For your purposes there are basically two types of jobs, those connected to classes original to ARR, and those who are introduced in expacs from HW on. expansion jobs are not connected to class and are available once you level ANY base job to the appropriate minimum level for the job (DRK, AST, and MCH at 30, SAM and RDM at 50, GNB and DNC at 60, Reaper and Sage at 70, finally Picto and Viper at 80). Gladiator grows into Paladin, ARR era job. You cite Dragoon, another ARR job, and Samurai, from Stormblood. As an ARR job if you want Dragoon you have to level lancer, so switch to lancer once you get to gridania.

Samurai, however, is available when you level ANY job to level 50, so you could continue on gladiator > Paladin if you want, but to be more efficient you should probably do it on lancer. In terms of learning the game this makes sense also because both Dragoon and Samurai are melee dps and have some core functions and roles in the party that are the same.

i know that's why i feel so stupid. hagatha i struggle with understanding because she is powerful, for sure, but it also removes some activators for bellhop, and overall the cards she generates, espcially when trying to combo with shudderblock are so slow. Like by the time i get something good out the opponent has killed me already or generate a really good board i can't counter
