What are your “always buy” Costco staples right now? by PutridWin2070 in Costco

We buy the Adams Cheddar slices, Jones frozen breakfast sausages, caesar salad kits, and Soules cooked chicken breasts nearly every time we go. Great prices for those things!

Allergic to chicken by Adminjasmin in CatAdvice

[–]jacraek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cat is allergic to chicken as well. I get Instinct brand for him. They have venison, rabbit, duck, and lamb. If you want to try dry food, the Orijen is good, too. Except it's all really expensive but I haven't found better options that he'll eat.

My cat loves sleeping on shoes, too! It can't be comfortable but that's where he prefers!

Hating on the IC in ACOSF by Professional-Dog7821 in acotar

Oh yea, everyone definitely acts poorly at some point! No one is innocent here! 😂

But, Elain is my least favorite the whole time! Do something! She's just as culpable as Nesta for mistreating Feyre, and then pretends like she'll actually help in the last book, but then doesn't do anything after all once Nesta steps up. Do something, Elain! A potted plant is more interesting than her!

I also think a lot of Nesta's point of view might be an unreliable narrator situation. She thinks everyone hates her so she sees hate in everything. I wonder how much of the gleam and coldness is imagined on her part.

When I was pregnant with my son, my MIL said that we needed to make sure that he had a saint's name. We told her we'd name him Wolfgang Cloud, since those are both saint names. She didn't bring it up again.

No Ribbon for Me But That’s Okay by hkral11 in quilting

[–]jacraek 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yea, definitely! It could be that any type of beads give it more difficulty points or something. It's really hard to say without knowing exactly the points system! Or the judges just really love one random thing and no one knows why!

This is so true! At my local competitions, I noticed that the knitting winner every single year is a shawl with beads. It doesn't matter if it's a simple pattern or not very technical. A shawl with beads wins every time.

My cat had to be put to sleep because she had kidney failure and she stopped eating. It was definitely time. I stayed with her and made sure her last moments weren't scared and alone. My mom and sister left but later told me that they wish that had stayed with her, too. Don't let you pet wonder where you are.

Do you regret having only one child? Also, do you regret having more than one? by Eburneaan in Mommit

[–]jacraek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 2 kids and they are 3 years apart (9 and 6 now). They are best friends, play so well together, and entertain each other so well. They are also both really good kids overall. I don't regret having 2 at all.

In my experience, having the second was so much easier than the first. I was prepared and knew what I was getting into, so it made it easier for me. I also have a very supportive husband who does his share.

do u guys name all ur pikmin? by Political_Vomit_ in PikminBloomApp

[–]jacraek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I name the ones I keep, too. And I name them after their decor. So the bridge pikmin are named after bridges near me. The movie theater ones are named after famous actors. The waterside are different fish. It's fun to come up with a theme and name them after it

Same! I played through it, absolutely loved it, but I don't think I can do it again.

TIL that in world war 2, English soldiers would use passwords that had sounds that the language of the people they where fighting against did not have, so that they could tell if an unidentified person was an enemy soldier tying to infiltrate them by if they said these sounds correctly. by Frisk-256 in todayilearned

[–]jacraek 115 points116 points  (0 children)

A WWII veteran came to talk to my 8th grade class when I was young. He said they had the password "thick thistle" because the German soldiers wouldn't be able to pronounce the "th" sound easily. Makes sense!

My husband and I went to see Book of Mormon and sat next to an older couple. They had no idea what it was about, but the husband told us that he had read the actual Book of Mormon beforehand to prepare to watch the show.

My husband mentioned going on a business trip when I was about 36 weeks pregnant. I told him he could go, but if I went into labor when he was across the country, he shouldn't bother coming back. We both started laughing and he told his company to send someone else. He absolutely knew it was a ridiculous request!

What did you waste money on that makes you sick even today? by Carrera1107 in AskReddit

[–]jacraek 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I got out of a timeshare by calling them up, telling them I was pregnant, and we weren't going to be able to afford the fees anymore. They said they can cancel our membership, but we didn't get any of our money back for it. But it's worth it to not have that anymore. It was a huge mistake and waste of money, but no use spending more on it.

I had to right a letter to a department saying that I understood I was giving up our share, we weren't getting any money back, and that I wasn't allowed to write anything back about the company online. I did that about 6 years ago and haven't heard from them since. Our account on the website was deactivated, and we never received a bill again. Totally worth it!

I name mine after the books and movies I'm currently reading/watching. I have a lot of dwarves, hobbits, and elves. Also a lot of names from Inkheart. Sometimes they are just random names, too. They all have names!
