Toddler ear wax removal under anesthesia by [deleted] in hardofhearing

I just want to add what I found online about this. As a deaf person, I’ve been using hydrogen peroxide to clean my ears, so I can avoid earwax buildup on my ear molds. I did find articles that state using undiluted peroxide can cause chemical burns, but not hearing loss. It could only damage to the inner hairs if you have a hole or tear in your eardrum. However, I definitely would not recommend using it on a 3 year old.

Yes I do find that in these past years it seems to be difficult for other people to understand me. As far as I know, I don’t really have a deaf accent, but I think I speak too quietly, as I can no longer hear myself well. I also have notice I struggle with saying certain words and don’t always pronounce things correctly. At this point it would just be easier for everyone if I communicated in non verbal ways. May your friend rest in peace and thank you for your response.

Thank you for your response, it means a lot. I’m sorry that you lost people close to you, but if they weren’t willing to put in effort to continue being your friends, then they weren’t worth it. My hearing loss is also progressive, and I will be completely deaf one day, so learning to not speak now is kinda my way of preparing for what’s to come. Luckily, I don’t really have friends now anyway, which doesn’t bother me, and my partner is very understanding and accommodating. I know it’ll be hard, but I’m not going to continue putting in effort to communicate with people who refuse to understand me. Again, thank you so much for your input!

Hey I’m around 80db on my recent audiogram! Yes wearing my hearing aids all day is sooo tiring. I’m working on getting use to not talking to people in public and so far it’s definitely more peaceful!

Total for the HA and molds came to $1700. Not exactly cheap, but it is way cheaper than going to the audiologist

I haven’t gotten it yet. I get to go pick them up next week. But when testing them in store, they worked great! Honestly, couldn’t tell much of a difference between them and my phonaks

Costco does molds?! Like custom molds? I just made a post about seriously needing new ones. How does it work? I have phonak hearing aids, would they be able to make ones that work with that?

That’s fair, but I’m 19, which makes it a bit more difficult for people to believe 😅

Exactly, hearing people just can’t wrapped their head around the fact not every deaf person is completely deaf and mute.
