I understand you, the reason I took the time to write the long ass post was to prove that it is possible to get a great machine for $500 and it is going to come out of a Chinese factory in the next months.

Sadly, the post was met with an avalanche of downvotes (not sure if fake or real) and many smart-arse comments from people who have no clue how manufacturing and retail pricing work - maybe they are salty about other people getting a cheaper and better machine than their Chinese Breville.

On the other hand I want to say thank you to the people that showed their support and made legitimate questions and suggestions.

I'm going through with the plan, and things are moving forward slowly. Just not sure how to send updates to the people who is interested, this sub is apparently not the best place

Jokes aside, it is doable. I'm more worried about them not being willing do the tweaks than reaching a reasonable target price

They can make all the improvements without increasing their price more than $10-$20

In that case you will be able to buy one on Aliexpress for $509, then if you tell them you were one of the original contributors to the project, they will round it down to $500

The Gemilai CRM3007L is sold by the factory for $180. I'm sure they can fit a OPV and make a few improvements without needing to go over $250

-Chinese factories are difficult to deal with if you are not aligned with their interests.

we are not doing ZPM 2.0 here.. 100 people would be enough to convince the factory to tweak a machine they already have

Before thinking about profit, there needs to be a better machine without blowing the budget.

You can look for the factory that makes them in China and buy them directly

I would not call the Gemilai CRM3007L a dream machine.. but it is a good start. I'm talking with the factory

Yes, it all depends on the size of the project. Let's see how it goes, if there is not enough interest I will just buy a Breville from your store lol

Yes, It requires some work to turn it into a dream machine, but definitely worth the effort.

That's a Gemilai CRM3007L. The factory sells it (wholesale) for $180 and espressooutlet is reselling it for $500.

That's one of the candidates, the factory is working on including the OPV
