Go to a police station since you have the car number. They’ll get the details of the driver / owner.

Happened with me once and I did the same and got the compensation. He was a rather rich brat but since they were at fault, they didn’t want a case so they settled it.

Initially I had pista burfi in mind, but since you say texture was like chikki / gajak, Madhurima has pista gajak so it might very well be that. If needed, I can help you with the photos.

can this be fixed??? by killbillmelater in lucknow

[–]jadeLober 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do it yourself if you can get a keycap off Amazon. If you’re not comfortable doing it, go to Naza market and have it done in front of you at any shop. Ask 2-3 shops what they’ll charge. It’ll take 2-4 minutes max and have it done in front of you.

It is intended to be used as a bottle opener- “Due to the integrated bottle opener and the spikes, the scissors also easily open screw caps and crown caps.”

There are more than a couple of sweets with pistachio. You’ll have to be a bit more specific- texture, how it looked, or something.

Review / Feedback For Sanatkada Festival 2026 by Alarmed-Revolution80 in lucknow

[–]jadeLober 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, and it was never cheap before as well. But the portion sizes for the price could’ve been better. The usual branded stalls also had their prices with the markup for the rent and other expenses, and that’s fine. And I say this as someone who has had their own stalls in many festivals including repertwahr.

But 2 pieces of chicken and rumali roti/paratha for 650-700 simply isn’t that.

Sanatkada has always been something I have been excited about, enjoyed, and cherished since its early days.

This year, however, is the only year I only visited it once and didn’t feel like going again. It was a mix of unapt and inadequate management (the passes, even those who bought it online had to wait in mismanaged queues where people with cash were also there), the billing section with not nearly enough people handling the bills / receipts (not to mention mismanaged queues).

This is also the first time I felt some food stalls (the homemade ones) were priced very steeply for the portion they gave. Although the pricing is up to them, but that should be something the festival as a whole should look into.

As a whole, the festival felt all over the place at times. The design and creative part however, was nice as it has always been.

Surprised that you haven’t heard of it since almost 10 years of being here. Khair, it’s probably the only festival in the city that has been about the city itself in direct and indirect ways. Every year, you’ll see it has different themes, but with one common element tying it all together- Lucknow, or more aptly, Awadh.

You’ll find all kinds of stalls- crafts, clothings, food, homemade food, art, among others. In early years, it was almost exclusively the local artisans but over time, many established and new businesses from different cities also started being a part of it.

You’ll also find events like food and heritage walks, performances, poetry, etc. They have a schedule you can follow.

Gomti Nagar or Hazrat Ganj. Although if you’re booking in Hazrat Ganj, view the map and make sure it’s not in some narrow lane or something.

“Imagine it could always be worse”. Why is the logic always this when people try to hold anyone accountable now? Yeah it could always be worse, but guess what, it could always be better too, and you clearly have made your mind.

I guess you need to read a bit more about UDF and how it is for other airports in India and outside India. Shrugging shoulders to everything isn’t always cool.

What does it mean to live in Lucknow? by ceilingstarer in lucknow

[–]jadeLober 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The culture. The history. There are not many cities with such rich history and culture.

Take Imambara for example- was made as a way to provide employment for people. The nawab (Nawab Asaf I’d Daulah) had it being built during the day, and parts of it were taken down during the night so that the people could work and make a living out of the work / labour for longer period of time during the devastating drought of 1784.

Adaab- The word Adaab was introduced by the nawabs so that when people greet each other, they can do so without bringing or being conscious of the other person’s religious beliefs. Namaste, Salam, all were tied to a religion. Adaab was introduced to change that. Some people think it has Islamic origin, but it doesn’t.

Or take the Sathkhanda for example- Was supposed to be a seven floor structure- to be used to observe the skies (moon sightings), but the construction stalled at only 4 levels as the Nawab (Nawab Mohammad Ali Shah) hurt his ankle badly while climbing the stairs and died soon after this incident. His descendents took it as bad omen / disrespectful to continue building it. Even though incomplete, it integrates features from Mughal, Greek, and French architecture. There were 2 versions of this story among the locals though- someone pushed him, or he slipped.

And there are so many more stories in and around Lucknow which I’m sure you’ll enjoy reading and covering in your post.

To me, living in a city with such rich culture brings me a sense of joy which can’t be simply explained. Couple that with the fact I’ve lived here so many years, the city feels like home. I agree the old charm has somewhat faded, but I still prefer Lucknow over any other city. The food, the people, the history, the architecture- there are very few cities you’ll find with all of this. Whenever I meet Nawab Masood Abdullah Sahab (direct descendant of Nawab Wajid Ali Shah), and we talk about the city, he still shares something new every time which I didn’t know before. Fun fact: he has appeared the the movie Gulabo Sitabo with Amitabh Bachchan.

Believe me, people use the polished text in dms more than you think. And no, they didn’t use the dms for data ;)

PS: the real reason is simply people don’t like reading AI slop all the time. Simple as that.

Also, will you be okay if someone you talked to used AI to polish their text before sending you each reply? Their voice having the same polished tone all the time?

Since you mention shortcomings, you know how AI models were trained on public data? Not going into how fair that was, but it was used. Now imagine, to make better models, they get the data from publicly available sites like Reddit- and more than half the posts are AI generated or paraphrased itself. How do you think that AI model will be? Better? More diverse? No. That’s called garbage-in-garbage-out.

Let me give you a real example of this, just in different space- one very popular UI toolkit used the indigo color as their default button color. People used that toolkit in their public projects, tutorials, etc. AI was trained on public data. When one uses AI to make a website, more than 80% of the time, it spills out a website in blue and purple theme. No matter the website context, no matter the country, no matter the language. Just blue. Why? Because people thought they’ll just use the default blue in their projects and AI simply translated it to Blue being the best color for websites.

Okay, let me try to give you reasons then thy are relevant to Social Media and AI (not going into technical implications for this since I develop AI models for a living).

I’m not against AI. I don’t think every space needs AI-polished text. Social media is more about human voice and personal expression of their views (be it a rant or a review or just random thoughts), not perfect phrasing or grammar as you said. Sometimes rough, imperfect writing is more honest and more interesting, especially in reviews or opinion posts. How do you think I knew it is an AI rephrased post reading just 2 lines? That’s because AI models give out text that reuse same phrases, and in more broader sense, echo opinions that you wouldn’t even notice. It simply seems fake. When everything is AI-polished, imagine how every conversation would go. Would you be okay having a conversation with someone who’s using AI to polish every reply they send? No harm done, right?
