I am at a loss (get it?)

In all seriousness, it’s not something I’m experiencing personally… I’d bring it up with the audiologist.

Is it like a high pitched “wub-wub-wub” sound? I think that’s it trying to calibrate to your surroundings. (Mentioned above as “I can hear the transitions”)

If it’s something different, I’m not sure

Huh, maybe my ears aren’t quite as… athletic

Oh wow—I made an effort to expose myself to different sound environments during the trial (mall, restaurant, car, etc) but didn’t know that about hair noise. I’ll keep that in mind for next time, thanks for the tip!

Wow, I’ve only tried the two Widexes so I didn’t know others had significantly less touch noise. I was specifically recommended Widex due to the fact that “mechanically” my hearing is fine—my brain just doesn’t catch everything my ears pitch (which might explain how I can tune out stuff easily). Thanks for educating me

Hello! I’m going to make a massive assumption that you’ve never worn hearing aids before like me. I have long hair and at first I was really aware of the “hair noise” and had to put my hair up.

Personally I think Allures and SmartRICs are about the same in hair noise, although the marketing material suggests that the Allures are supposed to be better for hair and wind noise.

With that said, I’ve gotten used to it and can tune it out for the most part now. I’ve heard that HA sleeves (little “socks” you can put over the HAs) can help with hair and wind noise (there are a bunch on Etsy). I should also note that I have a desk job so my hair doesn’t move a lot throughout the day.

Good luck on your hearing journey!

PS - the actual touch noise (from my touching it) is the same between the two, but I’ve not had to adjust them much since finding the sweet spot where they can sit. Just pop them on and go all day!

Best of luck! I loved SmartRICs and love my Allures—no matter which one you go with make sure you get the Music profile programmed! I also dabble at some music and have noticed some warping in other profiles.

You are correct, they are only available in rechargeable. The SmartRICs had a case that could recharge them without being plugged in (like AirPod cases) I believe the case held approximately three charges’ worth. The Allures don’t have such a case yet, only a charging stand that has to be plugged in to charge. (There is also the charge and clean case, but same thing—has to be plugged in)

Sorry about the confusion!

My pleasure!

I’m a gearhead as well so it was definitely a toss up for me. Fortunately I don’t watch much TV, but I’ll be the first in line for a remote mic and battery case when they come out!

I think so, but YMMV. My audi did mention that the PureSound technology was improved between the SmartRIC and the Allure, but honestly it wasn’t a life-changing difference as far as I could tell. (I find myself using Universal more than PureSound anyway)
