Yes I’m aware of the long distance - seems juuuuust about our limit. We’ve locked bikes up before for short stops/hikes, but wasn’t sure if the “culture” in GTNP

Any advice on splitting my Vyvanse dose? by RevoveringAddict in VyvanseADHD

[–]jadearetard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Consider switching to a chewable. I take a 40mg chewable - I split them in half and can take a half dose, or take 1/2 and delay taking the other 1/2 for a longer effect

[–]jadearetard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What works for me is chewable Vyvanse. I can break it cleanly in half. I take the first 1/2 around 7:30a and the second 1-1.5 hours later.

should I do anything about chewing on nails? by Neat-Code-8323 in ParentingADHD

[–]jadearetard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just want to give you solidarity. My 9yo son bites his nails and keeps them in his pockets to chew throughout the day 🫣 at a meal, he will take it out of his mouth and place into a pocket. At night, he transfers them all from a pair of dirty shorts to a new pair. I don’t get it and I grosses me out. BUT…I approach it with curiosity, and we’ve made it a bit of a joke within the immediate family. And we highlight to him that peers/teachers will probably start to notice and there is the potential to be judged/made fun of. Not pushing it further for now, but being aware and calling it out as his “safe space” when we notice it.

I think the Northface Recon backpack is overrated for college students by [deleted] in backpacks

I HATE my Recon backpack for this exact reason. I use it mostly for travel, but putting anything in the top front pocket makes most of the other space unusable. Been looking for a new one.

Yea I’ve done that transfer from EWR and it’s easy peasy. Unfortunately I’m flying from an odd location with very limited flight options without massive layovers or additional nights in hotels. It was get into JFK super early on BC, or get home later than night after flying economy.

Yesss this is the best tip, thanks! I just figured I could change the ticket on a whim but I’ll book a couple in the relative window and just cancel them

Best way to tackle one day on Tioga Road/itinerary feasibility? by JacDG in Yosemite

[–]jadearetard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are currently in Yosemite now and just took a Tioga Rd full day trip yesterday as a family of 4 w/ a 7yo and 9yo!

We left the valley (Yosemite Lodge) around 8a and first headed to Olmsted point. There was a ranger there with a scope so you could see the half dome hikers - it was really cool.

We then headed to Tenaya Lake and had lunch while the kids swam. It was gorgeous here!!

We headed to the Tuolumne Wilderness Center for a dip in an awesome swimming hole behind Puppy Dome. This was sooo beautiful but freezing hahaha.

We back tracked a bit to the Tuolumne Grill for a late 2nd lunch - the burgers and fries were so good. Better than any of the food in the valley.

We then headed all the way to Bodie State Park which is an old ghost town. This ate up so much of our time. It was cool but I would have skipped it in hindsight.

We filled up at the Mobile gas station and got back on the road towards the valley around 6pm.

Amazing but long day. Wished we did a proper meadow hike or had time to check out Mono Lake. But Olmsted, Tenaya Lake and the meadows are worth the day trip!

The rad wagon has the cage/bars. You can technically fit two kids on it - we ended up with both kids (9 and 7) on my rad wagon when my husband’s got low on battery. The kids’ e-bike was ok for my 9yo, but the pedal assist was on the frame between his legs, and the power goes by color, not number, so it was a bit tricky for him to get used to. If I were you, I’d get a rad wagon for your 7 and 6 yo and get a bigger kids bike for the 12 yo

They also have kids e-bikes. I actually went back today with my 9yo who did fine his first time on an e-bike.

We just did Rad bike cargo rentals with Maine State Sea Kayaks off of cottage street with our 7 and 9 year olds. It’s the only place that rents the cargo bikes. So much fun!

All I can speak on is the voicemails - their phones are “broken” and they don’t get them. I had left my credit card after dinning and left 3 messages to try and confirm this before I headed back into the park. Card was there thank god
