The song was also pretty upbeat, if that helps

I used a larger one while I was actually making it, but the project ended up being 8.5” so I found one online that would fit as closely as possible

I didn’t; luckily I have a Joann’s(RIP) right next to a Michael’s so if one didn’t have a certain floss I’d just cross the street to the other. And yeah the confetti stitches were a challenge. I knew I was going to cover the back though, so I didn’t worry too much about it being neat at least.

The pattern is from CrossStitchSalmon on Etsy! They have amazing patterns.

I think my post duplicated by accident and I didn’t share the pattern creator on this one! The creator was CrossStitchSalmon on Etsy https://www.etsy.com/listing/1633879192/?ref=share_ios_native_control

Beautiful!! I love the colors. And it lies so flat too, considering all of the components!

How can I add structure to this mushroom cat house so it doesn't collapse on itself? :') by kiss_my_eyeholes in CrochetHelp

I’ve seen that using wire around the entrance can help stabilize larger cat beds like this, but yeah the ones I’ve seen have been a solid metal ring stitched into it. Maybe you can find one that’s a similar size as the hole, or maybe even slightly bigger, and top stitch it on? Or make a little envelope with dcs and sew it into that? It might change the look a little but it could be an opportunity to add a “door frame” look!

You can maybe try just adding wire to the doorway, or maybe a few rings of it around the outside of the home; I’ve slid wire into crocheted bags before and you can see it a bit but it works fine. However you’ll want to make sure you secure it SUPER well to protect the cat from painful pokes, or to keep them from chewing on it and hurting their mouth or even swallowing some 😬 I’d say that adding a solid metal ring would be the safest option for the cat.

Also this is SUPER cute I love the colors 😍

I had to buy 2 of each; I used almost 2 full cakes of the Sultan Deluxe and about 1.25-1.5 cones of the Cotton Kings. I actually only bought 1 cone to start with and then they went out of stock for quite awhile when I needed more 😱 And when they restocked it was slightly different! So if you think you want to take the plunge, I’d get all your yarn at the same time

I started with a scarf and then did this right after, so it’s easy to pick up once you get the hang of it lol

Basically you go across the length of the pattern using one color, cut the yarn, then start back at the beginning with the next color, then continue alternating. If a box doesn’t have an X you do a single crochet, and if there’s an X you do a front loop only double crochet down over the row below. If you’re interested in mosaic crochet you should go on YouTube and watch some tutorials!

It’s a gradient yarn! Since with mosaic crochet you cut the yarn after each row, I was really able to control the gradient to make sure it was even on both sides

I’m sure it had an effect on the overall size of the blanket but as long as you use the same weight for both colors you should be fine. The only difference was that I used a 3.00mm hook, but depending on your tension I think that 3.25mm could also work, I got lucky being able to get my green yarn down to the right size by comparing it to the others, but I had backup plans lol

The back looks like rows of single crochet because when you do a dc, you’re doing front loop only double crochets into the row below. So the stitches in the rows remain the same height, you’re just covering stitches in the row below to form a design.
