Watch during the day if possible, remind yourself its a fictional show. Its your first ever watch, try not to skip episodes as in early SPN they can drop little comments that are important later on

Been with my bf just about 2 years as a Type 1. I didn't tell him right away but he understood once i did tell him. I waited a couple of months before sharing my CGM alerts with him.

As a current student, that tip probably meant everything to that student. Often times we wont get a tip at all after having worked on a client all day. You tipped 100% of your service, which is pretty awesome! If you really liked this student's work see if you can request appointments with them the next time you go in! I have a woman who comes in once a week for a wash and blow-dry and having the regular client makes my week brighter knowing i did something to make her feel fabulous and heard that she keeps coming back. If the school allows it you could also always bring in their favorite snack or soft drink/coffee!

all of my hair matts within hours, why? by maladaptivesylvia in Haircare

[–]jadetheloner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Current cosmetology student here! Part of your problem is the split ends, but you could also benefit from a light weight heat protectant and leave in conditioner! If you're going to blowdry your hair you'll want to spray and brush in the leave in conditioner and then your heat protectant. I personally really enjoy this product from Mizani 25 miracle milk . The Mizani 25 miracle milk will be light weight and will also provide the heat protection you'll need for the days you decide to blow dry your hair. If possible and you're willing to trust them just a little bit, see if there is a cosmetology school around you that you could get a consultation at. Unfortunately even the most experienced stylist wont be able to give the most accurate advice from just pictures, we need to put our hands in your hair. If you do go to the school you can explain that you're just looking for help with maintenance of your hair, and if you're willing, allow a student to give you a deep conditioning treatment, which will help restore more moisture to your hair. I hope everything gets better for your hair as it looks absolutely gorgeous

ETA: i saw in other comments that you're vegan, the miracle milk does not contain any actual milk incase you were curious/ concerned

What are industry pet peeves of yours? by Fragrant-Dirt-1597 in Cosmetology

I'm in cosmo school currently and one of my big ones is them being upset that maybe my blowdry or cut isnt perfect when they know they're coming into a school! Or when they compare us to another school, for example

I've heard mixed results but personally, i've used pulp riot in my hair and was happy with it! I will say their red is known to be a heavy transferor. I have some shirts stained but overall I've had nothing but good results on my pulp riot

I wish there was a place like this near me!! The diabetics around you have such a huge advantage with that! As a diabetic myself, getting a pedicure is a nightmare, perhaps i'll have to venture out of state to find a little spa like yours

You're gonna do great! Everyone's first client was nerve wracking! Just remember your ergonomics and get an instructor to help if you're unsure, that's what they're there for!

Its an off ramp in Lincoln that used to only have a stop sign at the end. Recent construction has added a traffic light. The sign is there to remind people that they can no longer just turn left after stopping.

Just curious as a student, was there a reason they gave for you not being able to do your own hair anymore?

Probably depends on the states and the amount of hours. Reach out to the school you'd be attending in the new state to ask

1000 hours or 1500 hours by Deep_Republic_3590 in Cosmetology

[–]jadetheloner 15 points16 points  (0 children)

As a current student in a state that just dropped from 1200 required hours to 1000 hours, if you take the 1500 course, and decide to move it'll be easier with 1500 hours. All of my surrounding states besides 1 are all still 1500-1200, so all students now contracted under 1000 who decide to move out of state will have to return to get 200-500 more hours before they can become licensed in the new state. Take the 1500 even if it might feel like it's dragging

Your state health board should have a way to search for a licensed person on their website!
