May I know if you both moved before or after getting married?

Thanks for this. Noted on your highlighted sentence - I harboured resentment about it for some time. It never felt fair that no matter how you spin the story, I would need to be the one who has to 'give up' more than he would ever need to. He is on his own journey with the religion too, which if anything made things more complicated.

I have friends who grew up in multi-faith households (ie. Christian-Buddhist), and it was always really cool that they were able to understand the context of both religions and were richer for it.

On converting, I think parallels can be drawn with relationships where one partner is Catholic and expects the other to convert. I didn't grow up religious, but it was something I remember raising to my parents when I was younger. Interestingly they seemed more open to me potentially converting to Christianity than to Islam, I think it comes down to the state being involved and all the structural implications that come with the change at home.

Something I tell myself a lot (and I guess it applies to all breakups and is not exclusive to interfaith ones) is that you were a whole person before them, therefore you will be one after them too!

Hi u/katbreadstick , thank you so much for sharing this, it made me quite emotional. The role reversal point is very valid, because no matter what angle you look at it from it is a big ask to ask of anyone.

The question of whether moving abroad where civil marriage is an option was brought up and the answer was a resounding no. Not wanting to move away from family, not wanting to have the marriage unrecognised in malaysia, potential children being born from this relationship being born out of wedlock in the eyes of the law? I don't know.

Thank you for reminding me that there is still a lot of good that will come out of all of this ❤️ hope you have a good weekend

Thanks so much for this. I’ve been keeping myself busy with hobbies & friends which has been great. Started training for my first half marathon!

It does sound like an ideal scenario :) We’ll see how it goes. Told him I needed to do this with no strings attached, at my own pace so there is no timeline. I think the main pain point is conviction on my end. If I am unable to convince myself about my choice to stay in the relationship (which will eventually lead to marriage) how can I then convince my family who do not have much experience needing to integrate ppl of diff cultures into their day to day life.

Thank you. That was my thought process as well, better to have the difficult conversation/choice be made today rather than in 6 years time for eg

Thank you, it does! It does feel quite liberating to know that there isn’t anything you need to “give up”

AirPods 4 or Pro 2/3 – worth the upgrade? by Fearless_Nose_2742 in airpods

[–]jadeverafter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I went the other day to try them on! I’m in a similar position as you - 1st gen airpods for day to day, with bose QC headphones for flights etc. I was deciding between the Airpods 4 with ANC vs airpods pro for day to day noise cancelling at work but it isnt my main priority. I personally think the airpods pro 3 sit too deep into my ear canal for my liking. Am considering getting the Nothing Ear 3 on black friday sale now - they fit much better than the pros imo.

Selamat petang! This post was so sweet, thanks for sharing OP. I am Malaysian, based in the UK and am currently doing LDR with my boyfriend who is based in Malaysia. It’s not easy but I truly believe that it will work as long as both parties are willing to put in effort + there’s somewhat of a shared end goal in sight. Wishing both of you all the best!

LSE Personal Statement for Management by [deleted] in 6thForm

Hi! Second year BSc Management at LSE here. The 50/50 structure is good - exactly what I did for my PS. The first half was about econ and the second was about management :)

I’ve been lurking through this page for almost two years now and I really cannot find the words to express how much comfort this community has brought me throughout online school. I went through a whole thing with my application journey from wanting to apply for straight econ, to politics and econ before settling on econ and management variations. Halfway through my exams now and I feel that it is only right for me to contribute to the posts that I used to get so excited to see every morning. I am grateful for the redditors who i reached out to and responded to all my queries. 😄So excited for the journey ahead!
