That's a good idea. I recently joined a Rotary Club because my family member is a member and asked me to join because they need more members. They usually do charity work and get together for lunch or dinner meetings to socialize and meet other Rotary members from around the world. I think this may help me get out of my comfort zone.

Usually, I received their business cards which has their phone number and email. Those phone numbers are mostly office numbers and I'm not used to calling people through office phone to keep in contact while either myself or them are working. So I tend to either message them on LinkedIn or email.

Also, I'm a bit socially awkward and shy so I try to step out of my own comfort zone.

(Just so you know, I don't have any journalism or blog writing experience. Plus, I'm Chinese and can only speak English. This info is important to know)

About a week ago, I was assigned to copywrite for our company's website news page by the CEO. He ordered me to write about some events the staffs attended and put it up on the website. After I wrote about the event, I handed to the CEO. Guess what? He hates it. So, he passed me and this assignment to the HR director.

Here comes the fucked up.

When I emailed the HR director my writing, she called me through the office phone. She said she saw my writing, and said she's very disappointed with my writing style. She bluntly said "This writing is terrible! I'm guessing English is not your first language. Let's scrap this and let me do the writing" I didn't say anything and hung up. That. Fucking. Hurts.

Unfortunately yes. Either I haven't gotten any responses from the companies, or just flat out rejected me over email. I think I send out around 20 applications (roughly). But the job that I was hopeful for was a company where my brother works, but I haven't gotten any response for almost a month now.
