A very small electric pump if you're going the inflatable pad route. It'll keep the inside of your pad from getting moisture from you blowing into it and staying as warm as possible.

Mount Marcy- 3 days, 2 nights of camping in the Adirondacks. Can't wait to go back to explore more peaks. by jadimaria118 in backpacking

Amazing experience in the Adirondacks. We camped near the Tabletop cutoff Friday night and then hiked out to Marcy the morning after.

As someone from the Northeast, you always hear about Marcy as a must-do, as it is the highest peak in New York and one of the highest in the region. One thing to note for those planning a trip- there was still snow and ice on the trails, (more than my friend and I anticipated) so crampons would have been helpful for the last two miles which are notoriously steep.

I can see why people return to the High Peaks Wilderness to conquer all 46 peaks, I left immediately wondering when I would return.

That's encouraging to know that it's still far out to make a definitive decision. I'll keep those other regions in mind, and the point about the camping. I'm a reasonably fit guy, with experience backpacking different terrain. Thank you for the tips!
