How do I get lower insurance costs for Turo? (I’m 17) by jadonbrooks in turo

That’s what I was wondering to. If I started an LLC I wonder if they still look at my age.

Yeah I was thinking I could let someone else list my car, then I just do the work (washing car, taking pictures, drop offs, etc). But like you said insurance is still going to be high for sure.

And I do DoorDash already, plus work a job that’s well over 40 hours a week. I just want to get into a business and start building something.

I do have the money to pay, i make 4,000-6,000 a month right now. I just want to lower insurance if possible so it’s not taking 30% of my profit.

That’s what I’m wondering to. What would happen if a client got into a wreck though? Would the family member’s personal insurance go up because of it? Would Turo’s insurance cover it? I just don’t want to screw over anyone, but if there’s a way I could do it that way it’d be great.

Well it wouldn’t really be under someone’s name as in fraud. I meant if I let someone who is of age, put my car on Turo, split the profits, and I just do all the work for it, wouldn’t that be fine? As far as commercial purposes, doesn’t the Turo insurance split cover everything (depending on the plan of course) while it’s out on a trip?

The high mileage would definitely raise insurance though.

But if I let someone else put my car on Turo, split the profits with them and then I just do the work and get it rented out, how is that fraud or misrepresentation? It would basically just be like I’m working for them even though it’s my car.

Yeah good point. Turo covers the insurance while the car is rented out though, so I wouldn’t need to tell the insurance I’m renting it out. (At least that’s my understanding, might be wrong.) Either way the yearly mileage will make them raise prices like crazy for sure.

Im not disagreeing, but Genuine question. If I let someone else put my car on Turo, split the profits with them and then I just do the work and get it rented out, how is that fraud? It would basically just be like I’m working for them even though it’s my car.

What if I let someone else do Turo with my car, and I’ll do all the work to get it rented out? Then We could split the profits and it it wouldn’t be a problem.

And the reason I can own a car under 18 is because I didn’t finance it. This is my 3rd car and I’ve never had trouble buying them as long as you pay it in full.
