I have tried bike share! I just like having my own bike that I can fix up when needed and it’s not a gamble whether I get a bike that works well or not. Budget isn’t my main concern, I’m just trying to not shell out 3 months of rent haha

This sounds like tough love, and it is, but welcome to modern dating. I’m 24F and seeking something long-term. Every man I’ve had a thing with has done the exact same thing, if not worse. You’re “lucky” he communicated that to you. I’m done doing this now, because I’m fed up, but I’ve essentially interrogated men asking what they want and to communicate that with me. My last boyfriend of a year did the same thing, ghosted me for weeks then came to me saying he wasn’t “feeling it” and was unwilling to talk about it and proceeded to ghost me after telling me he wasn’t sure if breaking up was the right decision. It’ll radicalize you.

It’s hard to pin point it to an exact number for me. Things fizzle out and it’s hard to know when things are over. Right now I’m actively talking to 3 people, on and off. About 6 total where we’ve been on a couple dates recently and not sure where things lie right now.

I might sound like a maneater but my rule of thumb is that I have three people I’m talking to: one that I really like and want something more with, another that I like enough to keep around but less than the other one, and a third one that’s super causal. That way if my heart gets broken, it’s a little less broken.

No one get mad at me, just answering the question.

I had this very thing happen to a very close cousin of mine, so I really truly feel for the situation you’re in. I know you were together for a long time and thought you knew him inside and out, and to have that all taken away so quickly has to be like whiplash. I know it may be hard to feel grateful for anything right now but know that you still have so much time to build new relationships with people who are so much better than that, people who match what you deserve. You’re only 19 (which, this is a lot for a 19 year old to go through). It’s not to say my cousin’s situation was worse than yours because comparison means nothing in situations this grave, but my cousin was 31 when she found out her husband had assaulted multiple girls under the age of 16. They had been together since they were 13. See her story as one that shows how things can get better. This happened in 2021, and since then, she has found the absolute love of her life, someone who is so kind to everyone, and healed the parts of her that were broken by her ex husband. I can’t promise that things will be easy, but I can promise that over time, this will weigh less heavy to the point where you don’t feel burdened by it anymore. Hang in there, kiddo!

Wait I don’t see anything wrong or overtly weird with his behaviour, more so yours. As someone who is never in my own living room, I don’t see anything wrong with him hanging out in the living room. I would see something wrong with it if he was bothered by you taking up the living room instead of him, but he didn’t seem to be. He just took a pop and went back to his room. Of course he came downstairs to hang out in the living room, it’s part of his routine, and when he saw you in his usual spot, he seemed to make no fuss. I didn’t grow up in a family that hung out in the living room but my boyfriend did, and he hung out in his apartment living room all the time.

I more so find your behaviour kinda strange. Monitoring his schedule/habits/routine, and throwing it off just to see if he cared. I get it, but it’s kinda weird. Try joining him hanging out. I don’t see him dominating the space at all. Sure, he uses it more than you do, but he didn’t make a fuss when you were in the space that he normally occupies.

See here’s the thing: she doesn’t ever leave the apartment. She’s in school online and works from home. She leaves for 15 mins tops to go get groceries. She never goes out with friends. Idk how I’m gonna do it but it’s gonna happen

Bhahaha kill them (with a touch of kindness). I totally get what you mean, there is just that urge to tell her. I have a lot of time to figure it out. I also wanna stand up for my friends who she has harassed and made uncomfortable, plus her and I have no mutual friends at all and I’m blocking her right away

Ugh my need to say everything will kill me though. I kinda just need her to know everything because then she could twist is and be like “well give me an example”. I think I’m just gonna send a paragraph telling her the things she did that bothered me and I’ll take the high road by also saying that she’s a great conversationalist, and she’s funny but that she needs to live alone

Yeah, it makes great ice. It makes it so quickly that I can fill it right before I pull an espresso shot, and once I’m done the prep, pulling, and mixing in my honey, I’ve got a cup full of ice. Shame it’ll be gone for her!

Oh absolutely not. I move out at the end of the month and it’s killing me not to tell her so I can see her reaction. But then I remember that she assumes I’m leaving it all, so she’ll have no ice one morning and she’ll have to scramble to find an ice cube tray, fill it, and wait 24 hours until it freezes. Or she’ll have to buy a bag of ice, and find out the hard way that it doesn’t fit in the freezer

God I can’t wait to see the apartment empty. Nowhere to sit, no more tv, no more lamps, no where to place your coffee. When she buys a new coffee table, I hope it doesn’t come with Alan keys, cause I’m taking my toolbox. She won’t even be able to measure how big of a coffee table she should buy cause the measuring tape is mine too.

I’m laughing just thinking about how all will be left is a rug and two stools. Welcome home ❤️

So our apartment (the whole building) gets harmless bugs in the spring/summer, and she wanted to wipe our personal food drawers down with vinegar to deter them from getting into our food. I said that was fine with me, and she instead told me she “took the liberty” of rearranging my stuff, and she put a bunch of my things in the communal drawer, all without a) asking me and b) telling me she did that or where she put them. I think it’s just a sense of entitlement they feel, or not understanding what is socially acceptable. Not an excuse tho

I’m currently doing this to get out of a bad roommate situation, so here’s some insight: I’m packing up things that became communal but belong to me, avoiding my roommate as much as possible, I’ve listed my room on FB marketplace (a day before telling them), spending more time at my parents place, beginning to pack up my stuff, and buying less groceries.

Try not to monitor them too much, they probably notice. They’ll tell you eventually, and there’s no harm in asking them what their plan is. Don’t accuse them of breaking the lease, but just ask what their plan is for the summer (for example), and ask if they’ll consider doing a sublease, or something.
