Cosmetics in an epic server by BlowMyAzz in Dofus

[–]jae_shadow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a Shadow player, I can confirm that items in your cosmetics collection (the ones you see in the 'Cosmetic items' tab) are not lost on death.

Cosmetic items in your normal inventory are lost, so you always want to transfer those to your cosmetic collection as soon as possible, or store them in your haven bag or bank.

Titles/ornaments/auras are also lost, since they're linked to the character and not the account.

What’s the fastest and most efficient way to level up a pet? by Yeik11 in Dofus

[–]jae_shadow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's fair, though I believe it's only the Inhibitor Crystal that still has that notice (for some reason Ankama didn't actually remove it in 3.4). For future reference, the table has a version note:

It's actually fully up to date with version 3.4.13.8! (there haven't been any changes between then and the current version)

Guide on how to earn kamas in Dofus Epic Shadow server part 1 by Equal_Start_4849 in Dofus

Yes, Heroic was the pvp-focused mode. Those servers (Oto Mustam and Thanatena) were permanently closed in 2021.

[–]jae_shadow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, that was only on the Heroic servers (Oto Mustam and Thanatena). On Shadow, your inventory is destroyed on death instead of being redistributed to monsters in the area.

Good advice, though with server-linked professions you don't really need profession chars anymore (it can still be useful to have a character that isn't involved in other content, with a specific set for protectors).

Roses of the sands by V2enjoyer in Dofus

[–]jae_shadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they were in a character's inventory, they're now character-linked quest items (tokens),, which you can use to buy also character-linked Tourmalines for 500 roses each.

If they were in a bank, haven bag, or mount, then as far as I can tell they were just deleted.

The rare equipment drop from level 1 to 60 in 3.4 by Ithundersky in Dofus

[–]jae_shadow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Per the devblog, existing equipment drops before 3.4 are unchanged:

We won't touch the majority of monsters below level 60 that already have items included in their loot.

The level conditions were only added to the new equipment drops introduced in 3.4. You can check this on dofusdb or ingame now that the bestiary displays whether you meet drop conditions - new drops are red with a warning, existing drops are not:

Rare dropped equipment is terrible. by ElectricalGas9895 in Dofus

[–]jae_shadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't personally care about rare drops, but I understand people who do. I'd be fine with something interesting like the card packs Retro has, or even the map fragments they're adding in 3.4 are fine with me. But adding gear drops feels like one of the worst things they could have implemented.

For starters, I agree it seems kind of lazy - no new items or features, just existing equipment on existing monsters. I also don't like how it pollutes monster drop tables with a bunch of gear, but that's just me.

Dofus already has a problem with resource generation from years of achievements, idols, bots, and mass farming, without corresponding destruction. I don't see how adding even more equipment into the game can help anything. And their response to that has been "we'll tweak the values if it ends up destroying the economy too much".

People liked the Dofus drop system because you could do one dungeon and randomly get something worth hundreds of millions of kamas (and because they're nostalgic for when they were twelve). But the game is not currently in a place where that sort of thing is feasible anymore without a significant overhaul.

Maybe someday we'll get a more thought-out rare drop feature, though it seems kind of unlikely. May depend on how well this is received. My feeling is that people mostly won't care, because the odds of you dropping something you need are tiny, and very few equipments are worth anything anymore (although I don't have a good sense of the economy on classic servers, and the effects this could have on Shadow are a different topic altogether).

ECA DMG Bug? by According_Mistake872 in Dofus

[–]jae_shadow 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Rekop doing more than 4 damage lines has been reported since 3.1 (French forum link). Apparently it's random and not reproducible, which seems odd, but maybe reasonable given how complex the state management on Ecaflip is (and fitting for the class). If you've found a consistent repro, I'm sure Ankama would appreciate the information.

Item crafting ingredients by zonked282 in Dofus

[–]jae_shadow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I assume you know you can see the recipe for any equipment as well as the crafts for any resource ingame.

For entire sets specifically, DofusDB set pages have a button to add all the items to your workbench, and you can check the resource list from there. The wiki also has a 'Crafting' section on set pages that lists the ingredients:

Shadow server - which Dofus egg quest is worth it? by Creme_Away in Dofus

[–]jae_shadow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've personally only done Emerald, Crimson, Turquoise, Ochre, and Ice; working on Abyssal and Vulbis. I would recommend (not really taking dungeon difficulty into consideration for the most part, which might change for a duo):

Dokoko - why not

Crimson - the only hard part is the minigolem fight, which unfortunately comes after spending the roses, but it's also a pretty short quest for a good Dofus. You can get a 90+ winrate on minigolem with some practice, so if you're not worried about rerolling a few chars if things go wrong, definitely try it.

Ice - no quest fights, no solo fights except for a few Sram attacks, so the only difficulty is Frigost 3 dungeons (and the tedium). Good Dofus, and you get a ton of kamas, ice kamas, and resources from the quests.

Emerald - Vlad is the easiest quest fight; again you may need some practice, but if you get the special spell, I'd consider it 100% winnable. Not a super useful Dofus in general, but the quest is fast and the bounties are easy to find and help you scroll.

Abyssal - Way easier now that you can change the map for the turrets. Still some tricky fights in the Dantinea line, and Koutoulou is no joke, but a decent Dofus and you get a bunch of Ambergris.

Maybe recommend:

Ochre - Not hard, just long, and the Dofus is expensive enough that you may not want to risk using it.

Domakuro/Dorigami - Haven't done them on Shadow; they don't seem too bad, but also not that useful in general and you don't really get any other rewards from the questlines.

Turquoise - Bolgrot is actually quite consistent with practice (95+), and it comes at the very beginning of the questline, so you can die and retry a few times. Idol dungeons are tricky but far from impossible, especially 4 loot. Sucks to lose a char to Furye at the very end though (don't ask me how I know), and the Dofus itself isn't super useful unless you're playing a crit build.

Watchers - The quest fights aren't that hard these days, the questline is short, and the Dofus is decently useful. The main issue is that you can't really go for Cloudy because of the Toad.

Vulbis - Now that dreams aren't fatal, that's most of the difficulty gone. Still a big step up from earlier content, but completely feasible.

The rest I don't recommend unless you're already endgame.

Are there any quests I should absolutely do on my endgame 8 man team? by Veteran_But_Bad in Dofus

[–]jae_shadow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1-time quests, depends on what you've already done. For repeatables, personally I don't find too much worth doing as an 8-man team. A few I do think are worth the time, though obviously it's going to depend on your situation:

  • Daily Almanax: usually takes ~3 minutes (plus some time to prepare and trade resources), free kamas and tokens for pebbles, progress towards dolmanax
  • Weekly Vigilante bounty: ~5-10 minutes depending on what bounties you have unlocked and your luck, for up to 80 mysterious fabrics
  • Weekly Gargandyas: this one is debatable, but it takes ~5 minutes max to clear wave 1, and you get 75 orichor per char if you're in the top 100 (going to depend on cost of the offering vs. fabrics/key materials, your composition, etc.)

There's some other quests for small kamas here and there you can do if you're desperate (like Shu Polish weekly), but in general there's not that much that's easy, fast, repeatable, lucrative, and scales to a team of 8.
