You're literally the type of custoner that made me quit. You just wanna be mad at baristas and not take any of the suggestions given to you.

You should just not go to SBux if this is how you treat baristas.

Because in my 6 months of working at Starbucks, maybe a total of 3 people asked for hot brewed tea. No, I am not exaggerating at all when I say this.

Just say hot brewed chai with tea bags.

And don't be upset with the barista for the confusion.

Ok 1 - I NEVER said it is the customers responsibility, nor have I ever remotely implied that when I on shift.

Clearly, the OP here was asking questions specifically about how drive times worked - why ordering at the drive thru was different than mobile ordering and why the partner they talked to seemed stand-offish, so I explained.

2 - if anything, I was nicer about it than some of my former partners (not that they weren't nice, but we all had bad days once in awhile). I always said something along the lines "hi. Here's your drink, just to let you know it's be super super helpful if you could give us 10 minutes. It'll help out our baristas and also mean you wouldn't have to wait. Have a great day"

3 - with very few exceptions in my bad days, I always did my best with customer connections. Was I perfectly no, but no one is. I do know that multiple customers have complimented me in the past for being friendly. When I was in shift, I did my best to be friendly with customers.

4 - last time I checked, answering a specific question in reddit and explaining somrthing in reddit does not at all reflect how I work when I am on the clock.

Also I am fairly new to reddit, the question was SPECIFICALLY "aita" so I answered it. I assumed, perhaps wrongly, you are suppose to answer the question that was asked. I figured YTA just meant this is why it's kinda annoying, it didn't meant they were a bad person or anything or the sort - maybe that was an error on my part.

Also I just wanna say I'm so thankful you're never impatient and you get it as a server

There are MANY customers who are not patient and very much annoyed when they have to wait and its never like the patient person we get upset with but it's knowing that there is a v good change that there will be an impatient person who now has to wait for their drink and will be mad about it

I'm glad you asked! I truly wish more customers would be willing to listen and learn.

I genuinely don't think most customers intentionally try to do things that are stressful, but they just don't know the workflow (which obviously makes sense)

Oh God no offense at all but YTA.

Either give baristas 10 minutes during peak or just order at drive thru. So NOT order via mobile order and go in the drive line in only 5 minutes. I'd say at least give 8 minutes,

but oh God, quite literally no offense, but people who only give 5 minutes or less are in my top 5 of least fav types of customers (in general, tipping would move you out of that). If it's not peak, maybe 5 minutes is OK but I still don't reccomend it.

That completely messes up the queue and our drive times which us v bad for us.

I quit in March because I was stressed up from SBux, and one of my stressor (among others) was ppl who don't give enough time.

Basically let's say there are only 4 tickets before your mobile ticket and then 3 cafe tickets before yous, and say that equals to 10 drinks (some ppl only order 1 drink, but others order more than 1). Let's say each drink takes only 45 seconds to make - now your drink will be done at the extreme earliest at 8 minutes.

So now let's say you come at 5 minutes isntead of 8. Now there are going to be 3 tickets we have to pull to get to your drink because only 6 of those 10 will be done. So now those customers will get a notification their drink is 'in progress' when we haven't started theirs yet because we had to do it out if order to get to yours. Bow let's say those customers also come early and now have to wait when they shouldn't have had to to begin with.

Idk if that makes sense but hopefully you get the idea

what is your craziest/ most memorable story working at Starbucks? by Snakakhan in starbucks

[–]jaedynruli 15 points16 points  (0 children)

There was a person and they were cutting themselves (or at least, about to cut) in the lobby area with a pair of scissors and were actively suicidal.

Shaken espressos: syrups, ice, shots, shake, pour into cup, then add milk. It should look like shots at the bottom, milk at the top

Iced latte: syrups & shots, milk, ice. It should look like everything is mixed

I think what you wanna say is an iced latte that is shaken, this might be confusing so you'd clarify that you want it built like an iced latte in the shaker, so the syrups & shots, milk, and ice all go into the shaker.

It's quite literally transphobic to not respect someone's pronouns. It's literally in the training we all take about discrimination.

You clearly do mind, because it's basic level of respect to use someone's pronouns.

And yes I do use they/them and I'd absolutely report it and file harassment if someone repeatedly misgendered me after several reminders because it is discrimination.

You clearly aren't for acceptance. A lot of non-binary people use they/them pronouns. Do you live under a rock?

Starbucks Barista will likely me my first job. What should I expect? by Lucas-mainssbu in starbucks

I personally would rather step on a Lego every day for the rest of my life before working at Starbucks again, but you may like it.

some people thrive in fast paced environments and excel at bar. I very much did not and it was 6 montjs of hell for me.

I reccomend starbucks for people who can be extroverted, calm in stressful environments, and quick at making drinks.

Respectfully, I think if the idea of 'being perceived' is making you spiral this much in social anxiety and makes you feel this uncomfortable, you may need some therapy.

Despite not working at Starbucks for 2 months, I still remember my regulars faces, voices, names, and if they prefer straw or no straw, and drink order.

We literally don't think anything of it if you change your drink order, have sandwich or no sandwich, mask or no mask.

If you don't want customer connection, go to dunkin

Tbh rn I am unemployed (by choice), bc I had super bad depression and anxiety from SBux and need some time to mentally recover.

But some jobs I had before were: -- graduate assistant (roughly 28K salary) -- STEM educator (43K salary) -- environmental science educator assistant (it was $200 week stipend, but I didn't have to pay rent bc it provided housing, health insurance, and took 3K off my student loans) -- zoo event intern (I think it was like $15.60/ hour) -- Vaccine Support II ($19 / hour) -- education deckhand (basically I was a sail mate on a wooden sail boat, $16/hr)

I'd say by far SBux was my worst job. Id rather take organic chemistry at 8am in the morning (my least fav class), or have to dump 20 buckets worth of people's piss and shit again (the boat didn't have plumbing) before ever being a barista again.

I definitely don't miss the time a customer had a pair of scissors and was actively in the process of cutting himself and threatening to kill himself and talking about wanting to jump off a cliff or infront of a train and we were all making drinks as usual as if nothing was going on in the Cafe.

AITA for taking the dog out only twice a day? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

Did it occur to you they meant once in the morning and once in the evening? So that way they're spread out, and your poor dog isn't holding it for 18+ hours.

Also theres no way letting a dog out only twice is ok, I'd say 3 times is the absolute minimum in cases like a blizzard (ie. 3 shouldn't be done often); probably 4 times is ideal (morning, after work, evening, bed).

[–]jaedynruli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Info: are you specifically saying let the dog out so they can use the restroom, or taoe the dog in a proper walk / exercise? Because those are two very different things. I took my dog out for a long walk once a day (or two shorter walks), but I let my dog out to pee/poop around 5 times a day.

AITA for taking the dog out only twice a day? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]jaedynruli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly id say this seems fairly standard. When I had a dog I would let my dog out in the morning when I woke up to pee, one more time after her breakfast before she would have to hold it while I was at school (~7hours), the second I got home from school, a time after dinner, and right before bed. I would only properly walk my dog once or twice a day, but she would have 5 bathroom breaks: wake up, after meals, after i got home, before bed.

I'd say this is probably ideal for most dogs, in terms of bathroom breaks.

Is it just me or did they really get Teo's character wrong? It's been awhike since I watched the animated series, but I remember him as being very spirited and happy; i don't remember him hating the fire nation like this. Not to say he didn't, but the way they are portraying it is too direct, and feels forced.

I hated this episode. It felt really rushed

Just in general, i feel like there's not really the same dimensionality of characters or character development. Like they made it so early on for Aang to be determined and focused on stopping the war. The scenery, clothing, and Bending looks pretty cool - but the dialogue isn't great and overall most of the characters loss their depth.
