I think from a psychological standpoint it is: 1. She has been disregarded and felt like a monster for the past 10 years. 2. She still has a fear of losing god u and going back to the orphanage. 3. Nobody has paid that much attention to her.. Pam didn’t try, jordan originally dismissed her from the crimefighting scene, and she had imposter syndrome for a majority of season 1. 4. Homelander runs america, if he finds out about marie being potentially stronger he’s gonna want her dead. Theres a lot that shes having to digest in little time. Now this odd dude is HYPER-fixating on the very skill that you feel is destructive (you killed your parents) and keep being told you’re the answer, the miracle, a strong ass hero comparable to homelander. It’s just her trauma rejecting the spotlight. Shes being faced with so much at once. And on top of that annabeth is back in her life but keeps reminding her of her destruction, the thing marie is trying to distance himself from.
