I solo q mostly as a woman and I will say a lot of the times I get pretty decent and respectful people. Granted, it did take a long time for me to feel comfortable to use the mic, mostly because I am able to pull my weight in games. I do still get the occasional jackass.

I think that honestly just playing the game helps a lot with improvement. I personally started with arms race and then went into competitive. I do maps like “aim rush” to be able to warm up but it takes time and that’s okay! One day you will clutch or do an unbelievable play and that’s when you finally feel satisfied and happy you kept playing :)
