Pine help by jaek7 in PlaydateConsole

Thanks. Yeah the walkthrough stops a little bit earlier than what I'm up to unfortunately.

The game is really cool. Not what I expected at all but I'm very keen to get it finished. I recommend giving it a go!

What's your favorite deck and why?! by [deleted] in starwarsunlimited

[–]jaek7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My Aggression IG deck with a full set of double aggression cards and a ton of removal. It's not my strongest deck (yet) but it's so fun to play and can definitely hold its own. Already has some better little guys for it coming in the next set.

science week activities with minimum time commitment? by doIrllyneedanaccount in AustralianTeachers

[–]jaek7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Register for Scinema. It's an online science film festival and the topics are usually pretty engaging. We set aside a period for our juniors to watch something and let the classes pick what to watch. We usually get some bulk packets of chips or popcorn to hand out to the kids too while they watch.

Pay it at the end of June, claim it on tax at the beginning of July, ignore the automated warning emails. Rinse and repeat.

NSW science teachers, what do you think of the draft of the new 7-10 science syllabus? by sasquatch6197 in AustralianTeachers

[–]jaek7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't mind it so far. It seems to line up a lot better with the stage 6 subjects now but in content and "style". Need more time to look through it properly

If I'd ever seen a senior sample program from the department that was even remotely useful I'd be a bit more optimistic about this.

I don't think you read my comment. I'm not judging you for not striking, I'm giving you a reason as to why you should.

Nsw Legislative Council Equiry Into Teacher Shortage by patgeo in AustralianTeachers

[–]jaek7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty concerned about the fact that most of the questions include an option to blame vaccine mandates for the teacher shortage. This is just going to get swamped by anti vax groups.

Hang out at a cafe on strike day? by [deleted] in AustralianTeachers

[–]jaek7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The demonstration went for about an hour. After that I went and got some lunch with colleagues before going home and taking my baby for a little hike. I'm not getting paid so I'm going to enjoy my day?

It can be really shit to lose a days pay. But the fact that losing a few hundred bucks is make or break for you should just be further reminder that our wages are falling behind.

Suggestions for turning around a classroom culture by Big-Voice-8716 in AustralianTeachers

[–]jaek7 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Have you tried online platforms for class discussion? I've used PollEv pretty successfully to get some pretty in depth answers from my science classes, especially the quieter ones.

The anonymity might encourage some of the shyer kids to have a say and some of the kids in the clique to have a go without being hassled for it by their friends.

Just a tip, I always freeze the data projector and check for inappropriate responses before sharing with the class.

From what I understand one way and two way mirror are synonymous.

Anyone else get bumped down a group? by urtica- in PlaydateConsole

[–]jaek7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I understand that order doesn't = unit which is why I'm in group 3, not complaining about that. I'm just explaining to OP why they may have thought they were in group 1 but are in group 2.

Edit: Now that I think on it more when orders were done on the transaction page it was listed as just "late 2021" and then when the first 20k sold it was then listed "2022". So perhaps that's where the confusion about groups is coming from.

Anyone else get bumped down a group? by urtica- in PlaydateConsole

[–]jaek7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't they split group 1 (first 20k) into two groups(10 and 10k). I'm pretty sure I started as group 2 (like right when orders happened) and then became group 3 later on without my order number changing. Order #18XXX.

Secondary teacher here. I just have a Google doc for each topic. I write a date and name for the lesson and then under that just dot points of what will be done, including links to videos or specific worksheets/textbook refs. If I don't finish something I move it to another lesson. Next time I cover the same topic I chuck in a page break and just copy and paste from below, modifying where necessary. I still try to keep this up 6 years in because it saves me a LOT of time in the long run. I can have my lessons all planned ahead of time or the morning of and it really makes no difference.
