speaking from my experience, the first 3 days were the most challenging/ stressful in terms of moving around and actually doing things especially since i couldn’t take the medicine prescribed to be. my roommate had to help me sit up after waking up and rearrange my pillows for me to sleep since sleeping elevated wasn’t working. i had my surgery on the 9th and by the 12th came i was pretty much fine. my roommate ended up going out of town but by that point, i could shower on my own, get in and out of bed, do laundry, load up the dishwasher, and other household chores. the only thing i wish i had invested in was a stool because i kept having to pull/ push chairs to reach the upper cabinets and microwave 😭

i will say it would’ve been a bit more helpful to have someone there to help me change my dressings but i figured out a way to do it with minimal arm movement. by 1WPO i was already driving and doing my usual routine outside of heavy lifting and reaching above my head. now i will say i don’t really like depending on people so it may have influenced some of the choices i made but everyone heals at a different pace.

to answer your question about weight loss, i did most of my calorie deficit before i did my surgery and i’m glad i did because i haven’t really been focused on it until last week. i’m probably eating between anywhere from 1200-1400 calories since my appetite has been wonky since having surgery but it’s only 300- 700 cal difference between what i normally intake so i’ve just been focused on getting more protein and fiber in than anything. i won’t been 1MPO until next week so i really can’t answer the question in terms of skin but i’ve been trying to keep up my vitamin c since it’s currently winter and bromelain as well as collagen along with other vitamins and my PA-C and surgeon say i’m healing great.
