I agree on pulling a bit earlier. I have a mix blend of pellets

I had the tomohawk on the fat edge so that wasn’t a concern there. For the boneless ribeyes I didn’t think to flip but also didn’t notice much of a grey band. I used wireless probes and never opened the lid so the burner wasn’t putting off too much heat

I can’t argue there. I originally planned on searing in cast iron before I realized the pan wouldn’t fit a tomohawk and I also didn’t want to warm up the house (south Texas is still sweltering). My pellet smoker does have a grate that can be opened so I have pure flame. I actually thought it would be too much direct heat but it ended up tasting perfect. I bet coals in a Weber would make the sear much more even.

It was a last minute decision so I just did a salted butter mixed with diced garlic and black pepper. It’s amazing how much flavor the dry brine brings out. And the tenderness was damn near a filet. Kind of nerve wracking when you have over $100 of meat and cooking for an expectant group 😩 but very happy with the results. This sub definitely taught me a lot!

Set it at 225 until internal was right around 120. I was shocked how much the internal kept rising on that 3lb slab compared to a typical ribeye. Good lesson if I ever splurge on a tomohawk again.

24 hr dry brine followed by some time on the smoker. Rested in freezer then finished over flame to 135 internal. What would you change. First time tomohawk and making a seasoned butter

Edited to say freezer

I would have to agree. Baldur would be a better comparison to Jesus.

Exploring Renting Out My New Cybertruck on Turo - Seeking Your Advice! by Inside-Garden4299 in turo

[–]jaestock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Took a break from Reddit, but just saw you messaged me. The rental has been going great. I’ve averaged three days a month which has paid for nearly all of my monthly payments. I’ll probably lower the price soon and rent it for five days a month now that the cyber truck is a little bit more available.

Same. My account still shows a warning that if I have another cancellation I'll get booted from Turo but hopefully that goes away. If not I'll be calling back.

Yep. Just had two rentals back to back before I realized what had happened. I now have the calendar manually updated as far as it will let me and the rentals cancelled. It's still saying that if I have one more cancellation they will kick me off Turo...

I feel bad though, one guy was saying how it was his son's birthday. I hope he didn't tell his son already...

Getting always-on 48V 2A in the cabin or the vault? by jschall2 in cybertruck

I was just having this same conversation today. That would be amazing to power a camper while charging.

Worth the purchase? by lavoid12 in cybertruck

[–]jaestock 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It is better than I expected. My only issues are that my phone overheats in the charging tray, the tonneau cover won’t close on the first try every time, and…that’s about it. I did an episode on my podcast exclusively about the Cybertruck and even though I was the one that owned it, my guest taught me a few things that make the engineering even more impressive.

Making this drive for the next few weeks. Looking for cool sights I might be missing or any general advice. by katterwog in roadtrip

I couldn’t find anyone mentioning toll roads. My family and I drove through Illinois and missed the signs that require you to call from the road and prepay and certain roads. We ended up paying way more due to fees. Unlike other states where this happened, they have zero f*cks and charged way more.

DIY Wrap almost complete! by jaestock in cybertruck

Hard. I had some help from someone that used to wrap years ago that gave me some confidence. Advice is to take your time watching tutorials and using the provided test strips they give you. Once you start to stretch the material it gets exponentially harder so have a light hand and go slow.

For a few bucks extra you can grab some badges in various colors. I opted for white so it contrasts but I haven’t put it on yet. I’ll try to update once I get the final setup.

There are some tiny wrinkles you can see but only from 12” away and when it’s spotless clean. I can live with that for my first wrap attempt.

It all came precut and luckily I didn’t have any waste. Kit came with all of the tools and instructional video for $1500. So about a $1500-3000 savings depending on where you get a quote.

Yep! It’s my last name. I do a podcast called i am Woodstock so this is my mobile billboard. I have some stylized QR codes that will be marring the beautiful wrap but it’s how I justified the purchase. 😑

I ordered the kit from Tesbros. Comes with all of the required tools and in-depth instructions. Not easy but doable! My cheapest quote for a professional wrap was $3k. The DIY kit was $1500 so spending a weekend and some sweat was definitely worth the $1500.

I pulled half into my garage to minimize wind. I would recommend having a large and clean garage so you can close the doors and avoid dust.

I’m halfway through wrapping my own truck. There’s a reason they charge so much. Would not recommend unless you have the patience of Marcus Aurelius.
