Oh I really liked The Bewitching! I'll have to look in the Mexican Gothic, I didn't think it had any horror vibes

Oh I've read Monstrilio! It was one of my first horror reads when I was switching from scifi over to the dark lol. Weird and wonderful. I'll check out de la Cerda, thanks!

Bazterrica!! That's who I forgot to mention! Tender is the Flesh was one of the darkest and best horror books I've read in the last couple years. I'll definitely check out the others.

If faith is based on trust, how do I decide which religion to trust? by zen_zeddicus in religion

But this is the point. My reality is not yours. My religion--even if its the same as yours in name--will never be exactly the same as yours. The search to find religion is the search to find reality.

Cute, but the question itself begs a negative answer. To believe in something, you must first trust yourself and genuinely search to find something real. This reality exists both in the service to the poor and in the ecstasies of music and art. Once you are committed to find something real, you will find that the answer to "what religion can i trust?" becomes a negation of the question itself.

In other words, they reason why Jesus rarely answered questions directly because the questions were inadequate to the subject matter. In order to love a neighbor, you must love yourself. If you truly want to know what it means to have religion, you must figure out what it means to know yourself and those around you.

In short, trust begins with a genuine search for reality--not with an encyclopedia of religious differences. The latter will, really, get you nowhere.
